Reflections for Police Officer Nathaniel Taylor, Jr.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the first anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Larry was also a fellow Marine and I also thank you for your service to our country whole serving in the Corps. Semper Fi.

Rest In Peace. I pray for solace for your family.

Officer Taylor
Tomorrow will marked a year since you left this earth and became an angel in heaven. I know it was a very hard year for your family as I walked the same path in life this year that they did. My son was taken from us 2 short weeks before you were taken. You'll always be remembered and honored as the Hero you were and will forever be. To your family, please know your not alone, we all stand together with support, love and respect.

With the deepest of respect and love.

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Every time I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the man they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Officer Taylor. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. (The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. I can also be found on Face Book.) You will be in my thoughts.

From reading the reflections left for Nathaniel, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Nathaniel's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Nathaniel's life was about so much more than the way he died. Nathaniel will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.

Officer Taylor, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been almost seven years but he's still very much missed and forever loved.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

Nate, you are a great person who will truly be missed. You always encouraged me, praised me for my accomplishments, and gave me the best advice when you told me THE SKY IS THE LIMIT and even though things are good always strive for more. You were truly an example of a great father, a hardworker, a kind and genuine person and it still hurts to know that you are gone from us. You will not be forgotton for you have left an everlasting mark with those who knew you.

Nate and I were old friends back in the late 1980's. We worked together at the Hyatt Regency Chicago: I was a chef, and Nate worked security. We would hang out together, and even took karate classes together in Crestwood, he being a much better student than I. We eventually parted ways through job changes, and I always tried to get in touch with him through some mutual friends, but never hooked up again. I just today learned of Nate's passing and am deeply saddened. Such a tragedy....such a loss. My heart and prayers go out to his family and friends. He will be in my prayers and thoughts. Take care Nate...may God hold you close...your old friend....Mike

It was just a matter of hours after we had spent time talking and laughing that you were no longer here. It was hard to deal with then and time has not been kind in terms of acceptance. I will say that each day is precious and I am thankful that the Lord allowed our paths to cross. None of us know when we will transition from labor to rest. I ask each day that God will bless and keep your family as He did with you. I have not and will not say goodbye my friend and brother, but I will say see you later! The LORD watch between me and thee, when we are absent one from another. Amen.

To Those I Love And Those Who Love Me
Author: Unknown
When I am gone, release me. Let me go
I have so many things to see and do.
You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears, Be
happy, we had so many years.

I gave you my love and you can only guess
How much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you each have shown
But now it's time I traveled alone.

So grieve a while for me if grieve you must
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It's only for a while that we must part
So bless those memories in your heart.

I won't be far away for life goes on
So if you need me , call and I will come.
Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near
with all my love around you soft and clear.

And then, when you must come this way alone,
I'll greet you with a smile and "Welcome You
Home".

PO Taylor spent his entire adult life in the service of others and that derserves our honor, respect and gratitude. I can't imagine that helps his family and especially his daughter during this horendous time. What I fear the most in doing this job is that I won't be here for my son if something happens to me, I know that my brothers and sisters from my dept. will be there for him and I know PO Taylor's brothers and sisters from the CPD will be there for his daughter.

Every night when I take my son to bed and we say our prayers, part of our prayers include this: "God bless all the policemen, firemen, and soldiers who keep us safe. If you should call one of them home tonight, give them eternal peace and grant their family the strength and courage to carry on. Amen" We unknowingly prayed for PO Taylor on September 28, 2008 and I know St. Peter opened the gates and St. Michael escorted PO Taylor into heaven when he arrived.

God bless PO Taylor, his daughter and all his family and the CPD.
