Reflections for Trooper First Class Mickey Charles Lippy

May God Bless the families of Trooper Lippy and Pilot Stephen Bunker and their MSP family. My family and I always look up in the sky when we hear the distinctive sounds of your rotor blades and we always know that you are on your way to save another life or help to catch another bad guy. You have always been "there" for us and we appreciate your service beyond what words can say. You are our heroes and we are so saddened for your loss.

The echoes of thrashing blades through the sky.
The noisy surge of it's peak
Is a helicopter passing with a streak.

The sounds so frequently heard from overhead;
Rarely causes anyone to turn their head.
Those that do, are rather surprised
To see the colors of tan and black in the skies.

A closer look reveals its badge of mercy
Suddenly giving reason to the flight's hurry.
Decorated with colors of red, white, yellow and black
The mission of this chopper is a Medevac.

Medevac helicopters race to save time.
Time for paramedics, doctors, and nurses too
To save what is priceless to me and you.

From newborn infants in need of surgery,
To victims of trauma all cared for with urgency.
They give us more than we can ever give back

A salute to all those who serve the state of red, white, yellow and black!

Rest in peace my "Brother in Black".

My thoughts and prayers are with Mickey's family for their unimaginable loss.

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air. . . .

Up, up the long, delirious burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or ever eagle flew —
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.
