To the family and friends of Trooper Mickey Lippy and the members of the Maryland State Police Dept., and most especially to Mickey.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Trooper Lippy was tragically killed. I know that your families and department must be deeply affected by the loss of two dedicated officers.

To Trooper Lippy's family, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in the Bay Area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support.

It makes the unbearable less torturous.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the service Mickey gave to his community and the citizens of Maryland, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on September 28, 2008.

I only knew you in passing, but I will never forget you or Pilot Bunker. It's a shame you died doing what you loved doing, helping others. The guys and gals of the Maryland State Police Avaition Division are the best. No matter where you are, when you hear that distinct sound of the "Trooper" you know help is on the way. You guys over the years have saved thousands of lives, each time risking your own. May your family find peace with this tragic event. Rest in peace Troop, we have it from here. Take care of Doc Phillips for us as well.
