I had the pleasure to be a friend and work with Kris during my time in Region 6. She always had a smile, and was a very professional officer. My heart goes out to her husband, daughter and her family and friends. My heart goes out to the officers that she worked with. Kristine made the ultimate sacrifice. May god keep you, and provide your family with peace.

The death of Kristine resonated with me because I am recently retired from 30 years of service as a K-9 officer with a natural resources law enforcement agency that does work similar to what she did. I know that she loved her job as I did, and died doing her duty to protect others and the natural world we love. All law enforcement officers take that risk to make the world better for all.

I've had the opportunity to ride with a few of the US Forest Service LE officers around this beautiful State, I've had always the greatest experience. I only wish I had the chance to ride with Kris, but because of the distance i was unable to. I've only heard the greatest things about Officer Fairbanks and I wish only the best for her husband and daughter. Kris' service toward the United States Government and those around her will never be forgotten; RIP.

Kris-
I always enjoyed working with you, whether it was finding dope around the Lake or helping you train other K9 officers at the Kalaloch dorm, you were always an inspiration. Thank you for all the backup, for sharing your knowledge, and for being such a great, happy, caring person.
You will truly be missed!

To Kristine's Family,
God bless you. I'm so sorry for your loss. Rest easily, though, knowing that she is in heaven watching over all of us.
I never dreamed it would be me
My name for all eternity,
Recorded here at this hallowplace
Alas, my name, no more my face.
"In the line of duty," I hear them say:
My family now the price to pay.
My folded flag stained with their tears;
We only had those few short years.
The badge no longer on my chest,
I sleep now in eternal rest.
My sword I pass to those behind,
And pray they keep this thought in mind.
I never dreamed it would be me,
And with heavy heart and bended knee,
I ask for all here from the past:
Dear God, let my name be the last.
Rest in peace, Kristine, we have the watch!
