Reflections for Police Officer Grant Anthony Jansen
I am saddened by each memorial I read on this page but for some reason I can't explain, there are some that stand out and this is one. I read more about Officer Jansen on stltoday.com and saw a larger version of the picture that is on this page. In the picture, it looks like he is on the verge of smiling, something I believe he did easily and often, especially with him family. I didn't know him, but they say a picture is worth a thousand words and that's what I see in his picture. To his wife, Annette, and to his children, Tyler and Paige, you are in my prayers. Right now you are busy with arrangements and the funeral. I pray that when those things are over and quiet descends upon you that your memories, your bond as a family, and God's peace will sustain you as you begin this new phase of your lives.

Grant was a great guy, I had the pleasure of knowing him several years back in the 1980's. He was an excellent officer and will be sorely missed. Rest in Peace..

Grant,
I can't believe you're gone. Has it been 20 years since we graduated from St. Charles County Law Enforcement Training Center Class 34-685 PT? You were a good man and I remember speaking with at Vernon's funeral. It seems as we get older we visit far too many funerals. This year has been especially tough. I never met your wife but, with your wit and sense of humor, I have no doubt she was truely blessed. It's hard to continue to lose collegues. You were a good man and excellent police officer. Aaron tells me that you were one of the best. I don't doubt it.
Godspeed, My Brother! I will never forget you!

I am a Criminal Justice major, and Officer Jansen came and spoke to one of our classes about law enforcement. I am planning on becoming an officer myself, and I actually got the honor to personally speak to him about his life as an officer. He told me that he enjoyed his job very much, and that he would recommed it. He touched my life, although in a small way, for the better. Officer Jansen, please R.I.P. You are a true hero.

Grant was an active member of our street training program here in the city. He and I met during my "Max the Dog" era. He'd cheer the same "Max" adventures that made my administraton cringe, while at the same time I'd beg him to teach me his tricks of the trade.
Showing up for training and finding Grant there was always a treat for me. Funny and friendly, if Grant was a salesman, I would have bought a bridge from the guy.
