Sergeant Dario Aponte,
Our duties as protectors of the public have always come with numerous hazards. To have crashed in the act of responding to a call is most unfortunate and this case is especially horrific. Who among us that is a veteran has not had a close call or have not been involved in a true learning experience. Our job is dangerous and will remain so despite increased training and the advice of critics. I regret that this incident occurred, but I know that the very nature of our work is high risk. And, so it will remain. To have died serving the public is to have died a hero. A final salute to you, sir, and a prayer for your family and for a full recovery of the second officer involved.

Scott,
Your bright smile and infectious laugh will be missed by everyone here. It was an honor to serve with you the past 17 years. I've always respected the person you were and was always proud that you accomplished so much, while remaining true to yourself. Your relationship with Donna was one that many admired and you were one of the genuine "good guys". I know you will always watch over your loved ones and protect and guide them. Until we meet again,
Renee

Scott, I remember riding around in D1 when I was a rookie with you. You were always so jovial. I never remember a day when I did not see you smile. Always willing to help anyone. I just saw you walking down the hall in your new stripes, so proudly...and Donna just had the baby... But I know you would be proud to see how much everyone loves you. We will all take care of Donna and the kids. I am so sad. You will surely be missed. I am proud to be able to call you my freind. God Bless, Hollie
