Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Anne Marie Jackson
Anne,
God bless you and all those that mourn you. I did not know you, but I greatly apprecitate your sacrifice. I recently lost some one EXTREMLY SPECIAL to gunfire. It is the hardest thing in the world.
To those that mourn you; nothing I can say will ease your pain, I know... But like with Kris, every day with Anne was a miracle. Rest assured that her sacrifice has not gone unnoticed.

I started horse riding at Black mountain ranch when i was about 5 years old. I used to look up to Anne so much. I remember one day when i was about 8, i went up to her and said "Anne i just want to tell you... i think you're so cool". She taught me everything i know about horses and always encouraged me to do better. Even though i'm 19 now i always would think about Anne and wonder what she was doing because She was my childhood Hero.

Explaining danger to a class of wide eyed innocents....
......the children wept
With a polite request to slow down, easing his shaking hands.....
......a father wept
Handing the purse back, she never thought she'd see again.....
......a mother wept
Bringing the horrible news, while being a source of compassionate strength....
......a family wept
Reassuring those brought forth from their homes, that they are safe....
......a neighborhood wept
The face on the news, just doing his job....
......a city wept
One of her best, cut down in their prime....
......a nation wept
Another link wrenched from the thin, blue line....
......a world wept
Sent to protect us, yet struck down by violence....
......Jesus wept

Anne-
We came close to crossing paths so many times. Life is stunning when we hear stories of someone like you, stength, independence, love of life, commitment, dedication and a gift to give of yourself. As heard this news three weeks ago, I was saddened. As the stories came of you, a fellow horse girl, pony clubber, animal advocate, 3-Day Event rider, keep of old hooved friends, patrol officer and more, I am disheartened that time passed and our lives briefly passed - yet I did not know what friends we could have been with all of those same loves of life. Rest peaceful and I hope you are not only an angel of blue but I hope you are riding the skies on your hooved friends.
"We gaze upon their quiet beauty, Their natural elegance and we are captivated. They see us softly in a gentle light... Rewarding human companionship With strength and grace. And as they run through arenas and open fields past mount and seas, Moving like the wind toward heaven, We travel with them if only in our hearts. I give you: the horse."
Anne you were also strength and grace, rewarding all that knew you with companionship. Find comfort in your legacy and what you have left in the heart and souls of those you touched in life.

Anne was an amazing and beautiful person, I used to get up extra early every morning and be at the barn by 6am just to make sure I was never late to meet her. Anne taught me so many things in life that I will never forget. I met Anne the day I started riding at Black Mountain Ranch, when I was probably two years old. Anne impacted my life in so many ways I could never name them all. She taught me everything I know about horses and was always there through the tough times just to talk. When Anne left the ranch a piece of me left with her, I always remember her coming back to visit with the biggest smile on her face and hugs for everyone. When Anne left and that piece of me left with her we put our place up for sale. I have seen very little of Anne since, but on the occasional drop in. She will be missed and always rememberd. She was truly a beautiful person.

I AM A WARRIOR
by Jon F. Hooper
I stand with God. I fight not for glory or fame,
For they are momentary.
I fight for those who can't.
I fight for Justice.
I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden.
And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets,
For I serve to protect the innocent.
It matters not where or when,
For evil knows no boundaries.
Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny,
I will not flee.
Justice is my weapon.
Faith is my shield.
Hope is my armor.
Cry not at my passing,
For it was my Honor to fight for you.
Shed not tears of sorrow,
But tears of joy,
For now,
I stand with God.

To the family and friends of Deputy Sheriff Anne Jackson and to her fellow officers, and most especially to Anne:
On behalf of our entire family, we wish to extend condolences for the grievous loss you suffered when Anne so tragically lost her life. Her heroism, valor and bravery will be forever remembered.
May you be continue to be comforted by the support and caring of your law enforcement family, and other police survivors. We grieve for you and with you.
Our family lost our beloved Larry Lasater when he was fatally shot in April of 2005 during a foot pursuit of two bank robbers, so we know the anquish you are experiencing. We know the meaning of lives forever changed because those bullets didn't just kill our beloved officers, but killed a part of everyone who loved them so dearly.
Rest in Peace, Anne. May your spirit continue to soar and your memory continue to inspire.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the service Anne gave to her community and the citizens of Washington, and the supreme sacrifice she and her family made on September 2, 2008.

I made a traffic stop recently, and the driver was a citizen from your county. It made me stop and think of you. I never knew you, however, when you are in law enforcement, we all share that common bond dont we. I wish I could have met you at a training function as often happens in our line of work. Anyway, I wonder what your last tour of duty was like. I love my job, and bet you did too. Every time I make a stop here in rural Montana, and the occupants are from the west side of washington, I will think of you and your co-workers. I will try and remember to say a prayer for you all. I am sure that you have changed their lives by your own walk. Some day I hope to meet you in heaven my sister. God bless your family and extended family.

I am new to Law Enforcement, and it is a sorrowful feeling having to wear a black band around my badge. It is a constant reminder that it can happen to me, or anyone else. Your passing is not in vein. It motivates me as well as many more to continue a service to our communities, and our nation.
Even though I have never met you here on earth, I know that I will when I go to heavan. I know that you are now another guardian angel in God's army, looking over not only your family, but your Law Enforcement family as well.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, for your sacrifice, your dedication, your honor, courage, and commitment to your community, your fellow brothers and sisters in Law Enforcement, and to the community and animals, you so graciously and selflessly served. Thank you for motivating me more to continue on in this career.
Rest in peace Anne. Please be a guiding light to all of us, be our protector, and guardian angel.

Anne Jackson was our horse wrangler here at our beautiful Black Mountain Ranch. It's impossible to know the total number of children she inspired with her love of horses. Our eldest grandchild, Katie, now 17 spent many hours a day with Anne in the barn, helping her in any way she could. (we took lunch, water and snacks to her so she wouldn't have to leave the barn) Katie helped Anne gather horses from the field, groom them, take younger children on the "C" rides ... she worked hard to become an "A" rider .... all the while wanting to be "just like Anne" when she grew up. Anne, we've missed you here but knew you were on to other adventures. God Bless you Anne .... you are missed.

I first met Anne with my children and husband at Black Mountain Ranch in Deming WA. She was the head wrangler and had such a love of horses and animals. She was so enthusiastic and so willing to share her love of the animals. She was the one to inspire me to "Chase my Dreams". I never thought that as an adult that I could actually persue my dream of horses and eventually own one. She tested me on riding and advanced me to an "A" ride which allowed one to go on rides that involved skill and technique. She always encouraged me and told me that riding isn't just for the kids and that I could do it. Eventually she pursued her career as a conservation officer and then as a Deputy. We missed her dearly at Black Mountain but were so happy for her and her new adventure. We were all so proud of her. Anne's love of life and people and animals has inspired myself and my family. My eldest daughter who will be graduating this year is pursing a career as an RCMP officer and will eventually join the Musical Ride here in Canada.
Hats off to you Anne and you will be in our hearts forever. God bless your family and we wish them strength and encouragement in such a tragic time.
Sincerely Sharon, Doug, Kayla, Tennille, Tyra and Briggs Pughe

Anne was a positive and active leader of the Black Mountain Ranch Riding Club during her time at BMR. She provided excellent riding instruction to the BMR young people and her first concern was always for their and the horses' safety. She will be fondly remembered by her many students.
Sincere condolences to Anne's family & friends.
