Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Anne Marie Jackson

As a surviving step-father of a US Border Patrol Special Patrol Agent who died in an onduty incident two years ago, I can fully relate to and understand the grief, and anguish that Deputy Jackson's family, friends, and co-workers are enduring at this time of tragedy. May the Lord hold you in his loving embrace and heal you with his tender mercies. Lean on each other for support and take advantage of the thoughts, prayers, and help offered by those who know and care.

As a former Deputy Sheriff, I know that the "Thanks" and "Job well done's" are few and far between and all too often are offered too late. Unfortunately we have no other avenue to express our condolences except to the survivors who will carry on in their sadness. The pain and loss will never go away but it will deminish with time and healing.

Anne, I knew you not, but if you wore a badge, I can only offer my highest regards and hold you in the greatest esteem. My heart is saddened by your loss and my prayers go out to your family. Rest easy Anne and know that others have your watch now. They will carry on in their duties of law enforcement and public service, a most honorable profession for which you paid the ultimate sacrifice. God speed.

Deputy Sheriff Anne Jackson,

Our duties as a law officer unfortunately require responding to emergency situations sometimes not providing enough time for adequate backup. It is always a difficult decision to intercept family situations alone, but our sworn duty is to protect and serve. That an officer would be struck down in the process is horrific. Persons who bring harm and death to family members surely, in their rage, will not spare the life of one sent to help them. In doing your duty, and giving your life in the process, you are deemed a hero. That you are a sister law officer brings intensified pain to all of us. Dedication, Valor and Commitment speak for you now. They declare you a Hero among Heros. As you apporach the legion of Heros who have given their lives before you, embrace them and enter eternity knowing we ae proud of you.

As a retired Pennsylvania state trooper and a retired Lake County (FL) sheriff's deputy I render you a final salute.

Cpl. Ralph D. Fiorenza (Ret.)
Pennsylvania State Police

Deputy Jackson, today we shroud our badges in your honor, memory and sacrifice. Tomorrow and forever, our hearts will weigh heavy from the loss of one of our sisters in service.

Everyday the world takes for granted that we put on the vests, strap on the belts and go out to protect them. Everyday we are eager and willing to deal with the worst the world has to offer. Tuesday you did just that, but we will never take for granted what you gave that day for all of us.

You can sleep in peace, knowing that you did everything in your power, to make this a safer world for the rest of us. Thank you for your dedication, service and ultimate sacrifice.
