Reflections for Police Officer Thomas Emil Raji
My heart goes out to Officer Thomas Raji's wife and family. I wish you all the strength and courage as I know the deep pain you are feeling. Allow those who love you; your family and friends, comfort you, help you and hold your hand through each difficult day. They will hold you up when you cannot do so on your own. And you will realize newfound strength in yourself to get through each day. Your husband is always with you; he will forever be in your heart. He will watch over you and protect you now as your guardian angel. With my deepest sympathy.

"A Cop on the Take"
First he took the oath.
Now look at all he had to take -
He took it in stride when people called him a pig.
He took time to stop and talk to children.
He took your verbal abuse while giving you a ticket you really deserve.
He took on creeps you would be afraid to even look at.
He took time away from his family to keep you safe.
He took your injured children to the hospital.
He took the graveyard shift without complaint because it was his turn.
He took his life into his hands daily.
He took you home when your car broke down.
He took time to explain why both you headlights had to work.
He took the job no one else wants - telling someone a loved one has died.
He took criminals to jail.
He took in sights that would make you cry.
Sometimes he cried too, but He took it anyway because someone has to.
If he was lucky, He would have taken retirement.
He took memories to bed each night that you couldn't bear for even one day.
Sometimes, He Took a bullet.
And, yes, occasionally he may have taken a free cup of coffee.
Then one day he payed for all he has taken,
and God TOOK him.
TOMMY RAJI MAY YOUR SOUL REST IN PEACE !!!!

Tommy, you are and will always be my guardian angel. I want to thank you for being my life, my heart, and my love. I've never been happier than when I was with you. You truly were God's gift to me and my family. I promise to stay strong for our unborn baby. When the day comes when he/she is born, I promise that our child will know just how wonderful and loved his father was. I will never forget you my love and you will always have my heart. We miss you dearly and will love you always. God Bless You and continue to watch over us always just as you did when you were here. I love you!

We visit this site often with the hopes that its list will not get longer. When I see a new name on the list my heart drops to the floor knowing that another Father, Mother, Son, Daughter, etc.. has given their life in the line of duty. It continually brings tears to my eyes when I read the personal reflections that are left by the fallen Officer's Family and Friends. I hope you can rest easy knowing that this brave HERO is watching over us from his place in Heaven. He served with honor and will never be forgotten. Rest Easy Officer Raji. You will be missed. God Bless you and your Family.

Tommy, work will never be the same without you! When I worked nights, I think of the late runs upstairs for your sunflower seeds..lol! And when I switched to days, as I'm coming in & your leaving, I think of you walking in, with somekind of funny remark, with your bag over your shoulder saying... (MAMMY)!!! You will be missed by all! Rest assured Mimi & the kids will be taken care of. You were & always will be remembered as a GREAT HUSBAND,FATHER, and FRIEND!! R.I.P Tommy

To the family of Officer Raji: My sincerest sympanthy to you in the loss of your beloved son and husband. I know only too well the neverending pain of your loss. My son, Matthew, lost his life on duty in an automobile accident on March 8, 2006. He too was thirty one years old. His brother, like Thomas' wife was and still is a police officer in Watchung. We are still struggling with this terrible loss. No words of comfort no matter how sincerely sent or spoken can take away the pain. I wish you peace.

We met in May 1997, a clean cut, quiet 19yr old, is the way I describe him. Months later working behind the fence and going out, most came to know the real RAJI; a real character, a character that I call my friend, one that many call their friend. I am so sorry that we didn’t always get together like we said we were going to and only really calling when I was doing a job in Perth Amboy, but when we did see each other it was great. Today August 25, 2008, I was there to see my FRIEND laid to rest. A friend I will not forget. Lord please bless the Raji Family.
