Reflections for Sergeant Martha Ann Woods-Shareef

Rest in peace sister, you will not be forgotten.

My family and I recently had the privilage of meeting Deputy Sheriff Woods a month ago when she was called out to my home for a theft. In the process of helping us my 5 year old daughter hurt her foot on a piece of glass in the road and gave my daughter along with me a ride in the back of the police car. It was a ride my 5 year old will never forget. My daughter told everyone of her experience. Deputy Sheriff Woods was a joy to meet and we laughed and joked and she thought my daughter was a character. She was the kind of person that you never will forget and she has placed a mark in our memories forever.

My prayers are with the family, friends and co-workers of Deputy Sheriff Shareef. Let us not forget her bravery and service to a duty, that at times, is so disrespected. She gave her life in protection of others. God has welcomed her with open arms for a job well done.

Rest in Peace Sister and tell my Son-in law Josh Norris EOW 07/05/2007 hello and have him show you around Sgt. My prayers are with your family during this dark time. You will never be forgotten and your strength and courage will live on to inspire every new deputy that takes up the call of the profession and your sacrifies will be remmebered through out the nation with every police officer. You got the call, you gave your all, and it was more than enough. So prop your feet up and take a load off up there and keep an ear to the radio so that when another of our brother or sister's number is called you can meet them at the pearly gates with a cup of coffee and a smile.

To the Family of Deputy Shareef
Your complete family are in my families prayers during this dark time. My family is just starting to make it thru a lost of our own with the death of my future son in-law Josh Norris. Martha was taken to early and should of have had more time with you guys, but as it is with the nature of this job, danger is around every corner, every car you pull over or house you approach. I know words at this time will never stop the hurt, but know she is not far from you, she is the whisper in the wind, that feeling of being hugged when no one is there, she will always be at your side watching over ever accomplishment and catching ever tear that you guys shed. What has helped my family and may help yours, remember your love ones laugh, her smile, the sound of her beautiful voice singing and all those things that are unique to her, since they are truly what made her. God has just added a great perosn to his choir. She is a true hero in every sense of the word and this part of your police family extends it arms to you and if I can do anything do not hesitate to ask. God bless you and may he give you strength.

Our Lords kingdom has received a very honorable and worthy sister in His police Department joining our heroic brothers and sisters who have gone before. Your gracious smile, you love for your family and your brothers and sisters in law enforcement will be missed by all still here. est assured sister Martha your name will never be forgotten by those you have left behind. Now that you are in His kingdom and no longer facing the forces of evil, be joyful in His presence and know you are loved deeply by Him.

My brother worked for the department for a while before heading to the Persian Gulf and knew her well. When I talked to him this morning on the phone, he read the email that was sent and we sat there in a moment of silence. My brother seamed to share a great deal of respect with Officer Martha Woods Shareef. He cried and we both agreed she is in heaven protecting the gates as she did while she was here on earth. From the tone of his voice, I could tell that he cared and the next call he was to make was to the department. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends and the department she and my brother worked for
