Mike, Thank you for the beautiful skies and safe roads today during your Poker Run. We all enjoyed ourselves. Your fellow officers, dispatchers, friends and family did a wonderful job putting it together and the outpouring of support from the community was incredible. Requiem in pacem, brother.

To those who loved Detective Phillips, my heart goes to you all. Know that you're not alone in this journey you walk. I lost my fiance in the line of duty January 2003 and my world was forever changed. It's been a long hard road, and even as time as gone forward, and I've found many reasons and ways to smile, I still have not forgotten the man that he was. Dennis was a beautiful person and he forever has a part of my heart, just as I'm sure Michael will always be a part of yours.

It takes a special person to put their lives on the line everyday to make this world a little safer for us all. I know many of these men never would've thought of themselves as "heroes" but they were in so many ways. It's sad that it they had to lose their lives for some of us to see that. Having said that, thank you Detective Phillips for helping to make this world a better place. You will not be forgotten here in Winnipeg. I know this isn't a very manly thing to do, but if you happen to run into Dennis up there, please give him a big hug for the kids and I. Dennis was a good man and we miss him more than words can say.

Wishing those who loved you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne

Mike,
I saw Terri and the boys this weekend and my heart just broke. You'd be so proud of them and I know they get their strength from you. We are working hard to ensure they are taken care of and we will always be there for them. Families are like that. We still miss you and are often sharing goofy stories about you. It's nice to laugh and I know you'd prefer it that way. I hope you are enjoying the view from above and I am sure you have made many new friends. Just give them time to speak, also, will ya!?! Oh yes, and the AC is working like a charm. Take care, Mike. Watch over us and we will be seeing you.

To the family and friends of Detective Michael Phillips and to his fellow officers, and most especially to Michael:

On behalf of our entire family, we wish to extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Michael so tragically lost his life. His heroism, valor and bravery will be forever remembered.

May you be continue to be comforted by the support and caring of your law enforcement family, and other police survivors. I know from reading reflections all your family is missing you so much, and I have wept at reflections left by your wife and parents. We grieve for you and with you.

Our family lost our beloved Larry Lasater when he was fatally shot in April of 2005 during a foot pursuit of two bank robbers, so we know the anquish you are experiencing. We know the meaning of lives forever changed because those bullets didn't just kill our beloved officers, but killed a part of everyone who loved them so dearly. I pray that your family gets the justice that you and they deserve.

Rest in Peace, Michael. May your spirit continue to soar and your memory continue to inspire.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the service Michael gave to his community and the citizens of Virginia, and the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on August 7, 2008.

The girls and I were at lunch today talking about you. Don't worry it was all good. It was said we couldn't believe it had been a month and it still doesn't seem real atleast to me. I miss you so much! I think of you everyday. You must know you touched the lives of so many. I hope you know how much you are loved. The New Orleans gang is planning a trip in your honor, where do you think we should go? I sometimes wonder if you are watching over me, if you are right there with me. Last Sunday I was walking up to Guad's to attend a fundraiser for your family. As I walked down the sidewalk Bailey ran up to me with a smile and gave me a hug. It felt like you were hugging me, I knew then you were there. You will always be there watching over us, your family and friends. I want you to know I will always be there for your family, Terri and the boys, just like you were always there for me and all your friends. Miss you.

Tomorrow marks a month but it still feels like yesterday. I still feel like everything is a dream and that you're not really gone. I know that you will be watching over us as we go through each day. Your wife Terri and sons will forever have our support. It was an honor and a pleasure to have known you and to work with you.

Mike, You were a wonderful friend who will be dearly missed. You touched a lot of lives and I am so proud of the man you became. Terri and the boys are very much in the thoughts of Mary & I, as we are trying to make some sense of your loss. After news of your wanting a Harley and not getting one as it would be selfish and take away time from your faimly, Mary and I both got two new Harley's a little over a month ago, and I am going to dedicate mine to your memory. I plan on getting a special paint job with your badge number on it as well. Rest well my friend and thank you for all you have done in your life, you were a wonderful friend, husband, father, and son.

Mike,
We have been told "God doesn't give us any more than we can handle." We reply "He's pushing the envelope this time!" We had you for 37 years in our lives and we are so proud of you and your accomplishments. You were a good police officer who loved his job, a good son and brother and a good husband and father to two great boys. We've also been told you lived more in your 37 years than most people live in a lifetime. We agree and are glad you did.

We always supported you in whatever you did and we will continue to be there for you and your family in the future. But to lose you so young is devastating.

Rest well, son. You deserve it. We miss you terribly each day. We love you.

To your fellow police officers -- Stay safe !!
Love,
Mom and Dad

My heart goes out to his wife and two sons. He was one of the closest friends I have ever had. Mike always put others first and had a heart of gold. Not only did he always wanted to be on top of his game in his job with the Virginia Beach PD, but he was thrilled to gain his position in SID. Mike is an inspiration to me and I was blessed to have him as a friend and now a hero. You are missed greatly Mike!

You've always been my rock and my stregnth -- for over 17 years I've had your love and support. Thank you for our boys -- you would be so proud of them. They have your stength and courage.I know that you are in Heaven, and that you've always been one of God's angels here on Earth. We went to your site today, the boys and I. We cried.
