I didnt get the chance to know you, but I do know someone that had the honor of serving with you in Hampton PD. He says you were a great man. It is a shame that this had to happen to anyone that is trying to make the world a better place. My thoughts and prayers are with your family, and my fellow brothers in blue in the Virginia Beach PD. How truly truly awful to be hearing of another loss in VA Beach. I have chills and feel so bad for the family members that have to hear this horrible news.
I feel real bad for all the VA Beach Officers that must relive another line of duty death.
The Pocceschi Family, The Boyle Family, and The Mosley Family all send their condolescences to all of you in this time of grieving.
Only time heals the pain of missing someone and I know that Michael Phillips memory will live on and on in Virginia Beach.
If any officers read this, please don't let this make you think twice about being an officer. We look up to you and we know that you are human. We need you to continue to do what you do. We honor you and respect you.
Officer Michael Phillips, you were a hero just by doing your duty and you will forever be remembered.

I remember Mike as a hard/solid worker and a great police officer. I remember when mike came on the Hampton Police Division as new officer and he seemed like he never wanted the day to end. Mike always went the extra mile on anything he was working on and gave it a 150%. I remember he was in his training and we responded to a domestic call,he handled it like a seasoned pro. I knew then mike was going to be an excellent police officer. Mike was much more than a great police officer, he was a great friend. We would meet and talk about questions he had about the police department and just life in general. I know that mike was always helping out his friends when ever they needed it. I remember one time my air conditioning went out at my house and he dropped what he was doing to come over and fix it. I will always remember the stand up guy and good friend mike was, as well as the stand up police officer that he was. I'll miss you friend and thank you for all that you've done.

Detective Phillips,
You will not be forgotten. You made the ulitmate sacrifice to protect our community. I know you will be remembered forever by your fellow borthers and sisters in blue. My husband was there last night. The pain in his face when he woke me up at 4 this morning to tell me was hard to see. Rest in Peace, sir.
To Mrs. Phillips,
My heart and prayers go out to you. I cannot begin to imagine the fear that ran through you when you heard that late night knock on the door that we all dread. Your husband gave his life to protect his community. Words cannot express the sympathy I have for you and your children. Please know that not only are his brothers and sisters in blue here to support you but so are the spouses. As they have a special bond because of the service they provide, we too have a special bond for the sacrifices we make in supporting their career. May God be with you and your children as you begin the process of healing.

God is holding Michael in his arms and you must ask God to help get you thru this. My Son Tom was killed exactly 6 months ago and he too was 37. He too left two children and a wife without a father or husband. Also it was another senseless murder of a Hero. Toms EOW was 2/07/08. It has been a rough road of grieving and crying but I know Tom is in a good place as is Michael - its just not here with me or you. I miss him as you do too. Ask for help and never try to go alone thru this terrible time. I pray for you and for Michael.
