Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Dennis Carl Compton
Dennis was my best friend,my brother.I feel so empty without him.He was my love.We always said we had ESP.He was and still is a good man.We are so close that my son never knew they were cousin,he call him Uncle Dennis.I will so badly miss you.Matthew said he hope you are having fun in heaven.Remember there's no bad guys.Dennis will always be in my heart, just like he would say,we will always be together because of our hearts.I will always be proud of him,he has gotten to do everything in life he wanted to do.It makes me feel good that there is so many people that will miss him and love him, like I will. Dennis always said things happen for a reason.Someday i will get to see you again. Until we meet again,Lois

My best friend, I could not believe the news that I got 2 weeks ago today. When that phone call came in a 6 A.M Wednesday morning and I saw it was your wife, I did not want to answer it because I knew the news was not good. You and I had some of the best times of our lives together. Playing in Down N Dirty, man we have some stories from that band. Then we hit the Christian Rock scene with DFC that is when you made the most important decision of you life you asked Christ into your life and that is one of the happiest times I have ever seen you. We also had great times in that band but it was time to move on to other opportunities so we did and started doing the DJ stuff and that was some of the best times of my life doing that. Now it is going to be so hard to do the songs that we did together like Pour Some Sugar On Me, Drift Away and Wanted Dead Or Alive. I was playing Wanted Dead Or Alive on the guitar just the other day and got about half way through it and broke down I don’t know if I will ever be able to do those songs live again. I am going to miss you my brother from a different mother as we liked to tell people.
Love you man.

I have known Dennis since birth and our lives have crossed in many different ways, at different times in our lives, but one thing always ended up the same, our path never steered from our friendship. Dennis has always been very special to me. I dont think anyone else in my life has known me as well as him. He was always a friend, family. We have always said our families were an extension of each others. We all have wonderful memories that will be cherished. He is still with us, not physically, but in our hearts. He would want for us to remember all the good times, all the fun and smile about them. He added something special to my life and everyone's lives he has touched. There is not much understanding to why he had to go, why now when he finally found the true love and happiness he always dreamed of, and his life was so complete. But as he said so many times, "Everything happens for a reason." Trust that God knows His reasons for calling Dennis home. God knows our loss and of our pain. He will comfort and keep us and keep Dennis safe until the time he calls us home and we are all once again together. Miss Dennis, Hold his memories dear, but also rejoice that he is with our Lord, happy and free, watching over us and waiting to greet us one day. Learn from this, always tell your loved ones how you feel about them, always tell them how much they are loved by you, speak to them as if its the last time you ever will, because unfortunately, we never know when that final day will come. Godspeed Dennis, you are TRULY loved and will be UNBEARABLY missed. Forever in my heart.

Dennis/ DJ SPIKEY D/ S535,
A week ago today, you left this world. All we have left to hold onto are the memories that we shared with you here on Earth. I am glad I had the opportunity of having you as a friend. You were always a phone call away anytime I needed you. I have never had the opportunity to sing "Picture" with someone who performed just as well as Kid Rock did on the original! Your voice was phenomenal. I will never forget how excited you were the night that you told me you were going to have the opportunity to work at CCSO. You were always smiling but this time the smile was bigger. Im thankful for the times that we were able to share together and it is unfortunate that those times had to end so suddenly.
WE MISS YOU DENNIS!

Dennis – Where do I begin? Well, we started our journey together in elementary school, on our 6th grade trip to New York. Then years passed. We caught up with each other
in 11th grade at the bowling alley. That is when I knew that I had fallen in love with you. But, you always said that you had fallen in love with me in 6th grade. Time went by. In 1988, we were reunited and started living together. In August 1990, we married. In October 1991, we had our Daughter, Tabitha Marie Compton. Our homes resided in Alexandria, King George, Spotsylvania, Port St. Lucie, Florida, and back to Spotsylvania again. The best time of our life together was when we lived Florida. We had always visited Florida and always wanted to move there. Your dreams were to be a Rock Star or a Police Officer. Your dreams did come true Baby! The two bands that you were in “Down and Dirty” and “Soulshaker” meant so much to you. You loved playing your guitar all the time and I mean all the time. I loved your long hair. We were always in competition with each other of who had the longest hair. I was so shocked the day I came home from work and you had cut your hair. Your employment went from Subway to Springfield Auto Parts to Construction to the Federal Government to Dialysis to Your Company with Clay to Pest Control to DJ and then to the Police Force. I’m so proud of you for all of your accomplishments in life. We had been together for so many years. I will always remember the good times that we shared together in our life together and with our Daughter, Tabitha. I have always loved you and will always love you, Always and Forever! Love, Your First Wife, Mary Compton

"The Final Inspection"
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass. "Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek? To my church have you been true?" The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint”. I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are awfully tough. But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep. And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears. I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear. If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand. There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God. "Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"
