Reflections for Trooper Shawn W. Snow
Today is a day for honoring our heros. Shawn was definately a hero even though he may have not thought of himself that way. It has been a long couple of weeks with memorials from Washington D.C., to Albany and Raybrook, NY. It was comforting for our family to be surrounded by so many caring people who truly feel the same loss. So many said it was an honor to be part of the ceremonies, but the honor was ours as well for having caring helpful 'new friends' to help deal with the loss and pain. I miss Shawn so much and so many do, but I know he is still here watching over and protecting us each and every day. Thank you to all who help make each day easier to get through.

God bless you and all who mourn you. May God give them the strength to carry on. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
To the kids: I don't know how old you are, if you are boys or girls, or if you will even read this. But if you do, I want you to know that your dad is and always will be a hero. He will never be forgotten. He loves you now and always. May God give you the strength to carry on.

Shawn-
Although I did not work with you often, when I did I never remember a discouraging or bad word coming from your mouth. You were truly a kind, selfless soul who helped everyone you came in contact with, good and bad. You are missed by everyone in our unit because your kindness and dedication set a standard that is hard to match.. Rest in Peace Brother Shawn..You have earned your place....

To those who loved Trooper Snow, my heart goes to you all. Know that you're not alone in this journey you walk. I lost my fiance in the line of duty January 2003 and my world was forever changed. It's been a long hard road, and even as time as gone forward, and I've found many reasons and ways to smile, I still have not forgotten the man that he was. Dennis was a beautiful person and he forever has a part of my heart, just as I'm sure Shawn will always be a part of yours.
It takes a special person to put their lives on the line everyday to make this world a little safer for us all. I know many of these men never would've thought of themselves as "heroes" but they were in so many ways. It's sad that it they had to lose their lives for some of us to see that. Having said that, thank you Trooper Snow for helping to make this world a better place. You will not be forgotten here in Winnipeg. I know this isn't a very manly thing to do, but if you happen to run into Dennis up there, please give him a big hug for the kids and I. Dennis was a good man and we miss him more than words can say.
Wishing those who loved you brighter and better days,
Jocelyne

I do not know you but you or your family but I feel like I should meet them. You and my cousin by marriage left this world in the same way. You were both serving your communities proudly when you were taken from Earth. Deputy Craig Blann of the NCSD, Indiana was a wonderful man and I'm sure that you showed the same strengths he had.
Please know that your immediate family, your work family, your friends and the community you served will forever be in my prayers. I hope that you and Craig sit up there and look down to keep "eyes" over all of us.
Rest In Peace Trooper Snow.

How saddened I was to learn that a classmate of mine had lost his life in the line of duty while helping another person. After reading so many of these reflections, I have no doubt of the hero that Shawn was. I can see his beautiful smile as I remember it from almost 30 years ago. I send my deepest sympathy to Shawn's family and the friends he left behind. Shawn is in a much better place now. Shawn, you won't be forgotten!
