Reflections for Police Officer Richard M. Francis

My most sincere condolences to the Superintendent Weis, The Francis family and the Chicago Police Department family on the loss of this officer. To serve so long in his career and to get cut down is not an easy matter to digest by anyone. By the same token, and with all due respect, officers should learn from this incident to prevent future tragedy.

We don't wish to see anymore officers hurt. If there is a more effective piece of equipment needed to prevent this from happening again, The Chicago Police should get it for their officers.

Again, respect to this officers family, colleages, and friends.

Chicago as suffered a terrible loss.

I hope your family can find some comfort in their many special memories and in the thought of the happy years you shared with them. The law enforcement family is poorer for your untimely death. Rest in the peace of knowing you gave the utmost for the citizens of Chicago and the State of Illinois.

To the family of Officer Francis:
What a terrible way this was for Officer Richard Francis's long career to end. He was so close to retirement, and probably could have already retired. What a dedicated Peace Officer! We wish we could have met him. Now, he walks a beat with our son and Saint Michael! May the Good Lord watch over and keep you all.

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen.

God Speed Brother.

What a terrible end to a long career. 60 years old and 27 years serving the public. What a tragic waste of life. My thoughts prayers go to his family both personal and his extended police family. A reminder of just how dangerous the job of law enforcement is.
