Thank you for 27yrs of devoted service to your community. Your sacrifice is a tragic loss which leaves a void with us all.

To your family, thank you for your sacrifices as well. The missed family events that Officer Francis was unable to attend, in order to make a living serving the public. Please remeber that your husband, father, and friend will be with you always and he will continue to look out for you from above. God Bless you and the members of the Chicago Police Department.

Off. Francis:
Never met you, you never met me however, however, as a retired Police Officer and a former St. Gregory HS student ( 1967-1968 ) I feel your loss specially in my heart.

By the address of your services tomorrow, I guess you must have lived near my Mother and Aunt who still live in Chicago. I am sure that, inadvertedly, you protected them while on your beat and for that, I will always thank you, Sir.

I pray to G-d that your sacrifice was not in vain and that G-d grant you eternal rest and comfort and solace to your loved ones. I also hope that some of the events which may have led to your death, will be examined in detail by those who are supposed to watch over the operations of the department, and some good will come out of it.

Rest in peace, brother

It is said that with every gain there is loss. And that with every loss, there is gain.

To the wife and loved ones of Officer Francis, I know that your loss exceeds anything that one can imagine. You have lost a loved one, someone who has been the center of your life, (wife and daughters) and has been a member of your extended family. (Fellow officers). Please try to take comfort that Richard has departed a world that was created by Almighty god, that (alleged) humans have defiled, and made evil. He now spends eternity in the perfect world of Heaven, in the loving arms of God and Jesus, where nothing has been defiled. Know with all of your heart that he is waiting there for you. And at the time that God so chooses, you will again join him. This is not "Good bye forever". It is simply, "So long for now". Until that joyous day, May God hold you in his loving hand. My sympathies and prayers go out to you.

Grateful Citizen
