Corporal Richard Findley,
I am saddened to learn that a fellow law officer's life has been taken. You should know that all of us who wear, or have worn, a badge seethe with anger and condemn anyone who dares to strike at a law officer doing his or her duty. We want revenge, but yet we take calm satisfaction knowing that our brother and sister law officers will see that j u s t i c e is done. You can be sure of this.
In the meantime we will be even further saddened that another law officer's family who is no longer able to share words with a husband or wife, a son or a daughter, a brother or sister, a mother or a father. The worst we could imagine is now before us. I wish that I had the true words of comfort, but I nor anyone else can offer anything more now than our thoughts and our prayers.
At this time, though, Corporal Richard Finley, I am certain that you will be greeted by every law officer hero who has died before you while doing their duty, and with open arms. Only they know your pain, only they know your loss, only they know your bravery and only they can now embrace you and lead you to your rightful place among those who have given their life for others. No greater sacrifice can be made by anyone. It is possible only by those who are selfless, who are dedicated, and who are courageous. Those whom ...in spite of any fear... chose to do his or her duty. And this alone validates them as a hero.
All law officers, everywhere, who might have chosen so many other ways to earn their daily bread, but chose to be a cop instead salute you. I salute you. We are proud of you and will recognize from this day forth that what appears as a star above to others is actually the brightness of y o u r badge as you take your place of honor among our law enforcement heros who stand shoulder-to-shoulder in the evening sky.

The tragedy that the PGPD and the BVFD Fire Department has suffered is felt throughout the public safety community.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Findley family, along with the PGPD, as well as the BVFD. As a past member of LVFD, and a public safety employee the loss to both public safety agencies will be felt across the region. May God Bless the Family of both Corporal Findley and the Prince George's County Police Department.

Findley,
When I heard of your death, it brought back deja vu of Bagileo and our buddy Gaughan's death. Tiffany was so distraught when she heard of your death, she went through her oral assessment with tears in her eyes. I am speechless and harbor much anger at the MONSTERS that stole your life. GOD put you on this earth to protect so many people, and I'm greatful I had the opportunity to know what a TRUE HERO is suppose to be. You may have been a Corporal on earth, but I'm sure your one of GOD'S TOP COMMANDERS in Heaven. You'll Never Be Forgotten.
