We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Officer Rivera and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever.
To the family, friends, and colleagues of Officer Rivera, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Officer Rivera is a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.
For those who pledge to uphold it, Freedom requires a sacrifice the protected will never know.

Dear Officer Jose Rivera,
You served our country in another branch of law enforcement, one that is seldom talked about. Our brothers and sisters who watch over those who have committed crimes are just as much a hero as the rest.

May God have mercy on his soul. For those who share my faith, I speak a word of encouragement, "To be absent in the body is to be present with the Lord."
The Rivera family is standing in the need of prayer at this hour. Please, keep his family in your prayers during these difficult times. A kind word always helps heal the soul.
This was a young man, whose life was taken by convicts, after honorably serving his country in a time of war. He continue to serve his country, becoming employed with the DOJ, Federal Bureau of Prisons. Sadly, 10 months into his tenure, his life was taken from him. A young man, only 23 years of age.
Know, the Council of Prison Locals will do all we can to see that Justice is brought to the evildoers who committed this horrendous act and crime.
We will continue to be there for his family, and love ones. On behalf of the CPL, I personal extend our condolences to his family, especially, to his Mother. May God keep you and your soul comforted during these difficult times, in his Holy and Righteous name, I pray. Amen.
With deepest sympathy,
Eric Young

CO Jose Rivera, you have been called home to be with GOD. Some times we are put into positions that are hard to understand. GOD does things to teach us and helps us grow, sometimes for this life and sometimes for our future lives, but once we move on to be with GOD oour pain goes away.
To: the Rivera Family, my prayers and thoughts are with you now and forever. Jose died doing what he loved to do, and that was to protect others from harms way. Remember that Jose is with GOD and that where they are there is no need for prisons because there is no evil. Jose estas con Dios.
Que Dios te bendigas toda tu vida.
To Jose's Brothers and Sisters at the Prison, Know that Rivera is with GOD and that he is longer in pain. Know that he cared for all of you and that he knew there were many of you who tried to save his life, but he wants you to not feel bad about not being able to save him, it was his call home.
My thoughts and Prayers will be with all of you always.
Yours in Christ,
Father Tony Ramos
