To the family and friends of Officer Rivera: I can only hope that you will be able to find comfort in knowing that as important a job Jose did on this earth, our Lord God must have had an even greater mission for him to serve in His Kingdom. Know that there are thousands of us, people you may never know, his brothers and sisters, who have you all in our prayers. May God keep you in His grace. Rest in peace, Jose, my BROTHER.

Although I did not know Officer Rivera, the news of his death was painful all the same. Everyday we put our lives on the line to protect and serve our country and we are proud of our service. So, it is with great saddness that I send this condolence to the family and friends of Officer Rivera. There are no words which can ease the pain that you are suffering from such a horrific loss. But please know that during our memorial service today, at FCI Pekin, our thoughts and prayers were with you. May God be with you during your grief of such tragedy.

Another name has been added to the wall. I may not have known you personally however; I have known you from others who have walked behind the wall. There is no greater sacrifice than to lay down you life for others. We are better for having known you, and lessened by your loss.
Rest easy for we will always remember your sacrifice.

May sincere condolences to the Rivera Family, may GOD keep you in perfect peace. The lost of a love one are always so tragic, we think of all the things we could have said and done, but life is precious in this own right, to the Bureau family, unite, become little one, train your staff and always remember the Fallen.

The Good Shepherd
1You, LORD, are my shepherd. I will never be in need.
2You let me rest in fields of green grass.
You lead me to streams of peaceful water,
3And you refresh my life.
You are true to your name, and you lead me
along the right paths.
4I may walk through valleys as dark as death,
but I won't be afraid.
You are with me,
and your shepherd's rod [a] makes me feel safe.
5You treat me to a feast, while my enemies watch.
You honor me as your guest, and you fill my cup
until it overflows.
6Your kindness and love will always be with me
each day of my life, and I will live forever
in your house, LORD.

I would like to express my sympathy and prayers to Officer Rivera's family and friends, and to all of the Correctional Officers and other staff at U.S.P. Atwater. It's with great regret and sympathy that I am posting this reflection. I just wanted Correctional Officer Jose Rivera’s family and my brother and sister Correctional Officers at U.S.P. Atwater to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. God bless you all as you have to endure this tragedy.
God Bless Correctional Officer Jose Rivera as he moves on to the next stage. All gave some, some gave all.

My opinion is that working in a prison is the hardest, most thankless job, more so than being a beat cop.
I have nothing but the highest respect for those who go into this line of work. May our Lord bless the family and friends and co-workers of Officer Rivera.
