Reflections for Correctional Officer Jose Rivera
Officer J. Rivera
I was in Atwater on the day of your service, and worked a post so that your fellow officers could attend your service. The look of your fellow officers faces after the ceremony is something i will never forget. It is sad to say that our agency is so negligent to see what is truly going on here. I truly hope that one day these people in suits that have never worked a quarter in a unit or shu. will take proper judgement and take care of there line staff istead of being concearned about a bonus. Officer J. Rivera, rest in Paeace, I will pray for you and your Family.

It is a honor and privilege to have known and graduated in the same FLETC class as Officer Rivera. The BOP has lost a great Officer and the Country has lost an even better man. Rest in Peace, you will never be forgotten.

To the Jose Rivera family,
My heart breaks for you today. Seeing that Jose being
so young and only in corrections for such a short time period.(My nephew was 20 and served 10mths with SJSO in Fl.) I am sure he has impacted many lives around him. You will never realize how much until now.
You are now part of a family that will remember your son forever. Let them love and take care of you!
They are the best caregivers you will ever have. Law enforcement families are truly a god send in times like this.
God bless you and your family

Lo there do I see my father
Lo there do I see my mother, my brothers, and my sisters
Lo there do I see the line of my people, back to the begining
Lo they do call to me, they bid me to take my place among them
In the Halls of Valhalla
Where the brave may live forever.
May peace be with your family and loved ones. Rest well for we will be along soon.

To be a correctional officer in any setting is sometimes overlooked and may be overshadowed by more exposed law enforcement agencies. It takes a special person to be a correctional officer, you never know what the day might bring when you enter those gates. My heartfelt condolences to the Rivera family. Rest in peace brother.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Corrections is one of the most difficult jobs in law enforcement. We are under paid and under appreciated but we still do the job. Rest in peace brother.

Lord, when it is time to go inside
that place of steel and stone,
I pray that you will keep me safe,
so I don't have to walk alone.
Help me to do my duty.
Please watch me on my rounds,
amoungst those perilous places
and slamming steel door sounds.
God, keep my fellow Officers
well and free from harm.
Let them know I will be there too
whenever there's an alarm.
Above all when I walk my beat
no matter where I roam,
let me go back whence I came,
to my family and home.
In Jesus Christ Amen
God bless you and may you rest in peace.
