Reflections for Trooper David Shawn Blanton, Jr.
It's so sad to see another Trooper's death at the hand of a previously convicted felon. May justice be served swiftly, and may his family heal, if that is indeed possible. Let those near them gather 'round and be a lifetime of positive influence to the child who will never know its father.

Trooper Blanton,
I did not know you personally, but I know your beautiful wife. I am grateful to know there are officers out there like you willing to make the ultimate sacrifice in order to serve and protect us, both at home and abroad. My thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends as they cope with your untimely death. Thank you for all you did. I'm terribly sorry I never got the chance to meet you. Rest peacefully.

To your wife, my thoughts and prayers are with you. It is always a wife's worse nightmare to get this kind of news, but please remember that God DOES have a master plan for all of us.
To the guys that work with him, may God give you all peace as well. I have watched my husband deal with the deal with the death of several fellow officers here killed in the line of duty and it is just like a relative being taken away.

"In The Line of Duty"
What is the meaning of "In The Line Of Duty"
It means that an officer made the Ultimate sacrifice.
It means that someone took an officer's life.
A hero has fallen.
Officers who gave their all
To protect and serve
Have been killed by someone whom they swore
To protect and serve.
It means that their badge will no longer be on their chest
And they will join
"The Best Of The Best"
It means that family and friends are left behind
To deal with the lost of a loved one.
Only having the memories of that loved one
Close to their hearts.
Something no one can ever take away.
It means that family members will stand at the officers grave
And wonder why ...
Why would someone take an officer's life
And leave them there to die?
If we only knew.
Today an officer will place their badge on their chest
To fulfill the dreams of heroes killed
