Tragedies like these have no boudaries when it comes to who is affected. Although several states seperate us, our hearts and thoughts are there with the Blanton family during this very difficult time. RIP our brother!

The only light I find in the dark realization of Trp Blanton's death is that he had the chance to see his son born. My most heartfelt condolences to the friend, family, and co-workers left behind. To a telecommunicator, a trooper on the road is often a voice floating in and out of our ears; but the good ones know there is a man or woman's face who match that voice, there is a heart that beats and a drive to protect people they have never met, and might not ever meet again. Trooper D S Blanton Jr is never going to truly cease watching over those who watch over us.

I know of no words that will suffice. Absolutely no words that are adequate at a time such as this.
I would just like for the family, friends and fellow co-workers of Trooper David Shawn Blanton Jr. to know there are folks all across this country that will lift you up in prayer before the Almighty in the coming days.
May you each experience the eternal love and endless blessings of our Lord and Savior.

It echoes across the land, died too young, too soon.
If only special words were adequate in this time of
sorrow. Something that could comfort the families
deep soul wrenching pain. He died serving his community
seems shallow in the tremendous personal loss. Perhaps the only thing we can insure is that the family knows that in
these troubled times there are many citizens across this
nation who do understand the sacrifice. Who do appreciate
the efforts to keep us safe. But until our communities
are safe, until we can mourn the LAST officer killed in
the line of duty all of us who care are required to do
our jobs to remember, to support, to appreciate and to pray
protection around the thin blue line that stands between
citizens and crime.
I am so so sorry for your families loss. I will keep all in my prayers.

My sympathies to the family of Trooper Blanton, his colleagues, and friends. He died way too young doing good. His assailant should have died resisting arrest while saving the tax payers millions.

Trooper Blanton,

What can I say? I never knew you but I have heard your name before. This is such a tragedy. You were killed doing what you loved to do. I patrol west Asheville and just only a few long miles from your terrible stop. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. This is a sad day for NCSHP, the state of North Carolina and the United States. This is not how it is supposed to be brother but we both knew that when we entered law enforcement. You have paid the ultimate sacrifice David and you will never be forgotten. Our Father has called you home to the promise land. Please keep watch over all of us down here still doing God's work.
