I sit here with a tear in my eye and sorrow in my heart. I know you're in heaven watching over the ones you left behind. You will forever be in our hearts. We will miss you brother. I'm sure you will be a guardian angel for every Trooper on the road. See you in Heaven!
"Dear Lord,
I know we often question why such a horrific tragedy could be allowed to happen to such a great person. Our faith allows us to know that you had greater work for David in Heaven. Please be with us all and especially with his wife. Lord, please shine you love and guidance down upon his family. Walk with them Lord, ease their pain, and please bless them.
AMEN"

There are so many thoughts and words that rush through your mind at a time like this, it is difficult to find the right thing to say. I never met Trooper Blanton, but have several family and friends that knew him well. It is clear the man that he was. A man brave enough to go out into the fray each and every shift that he worked, knowing what could happen, but able to put it aside and do what needed to be done.
To the family of Trooper Blanton, know that there are an array of people standing by, ready and waiting to be there for you all, support you all, and help you through this very difficult time. While you may not know many of them, you are still a part of a family, a brotherhood, that will never forget the sacrific that your loved one made. They will be there for you in the days and years to come, never leaving your side. Know that you have that love and support ready for you.
I can only pray that you can take comfort in knowing that he is amongst the best and bravest there is now. They were ready and waiting for him, welcoming him with open arms. He will be with you always and will forever live in the hearts and minds of everyone who has been touched by this tragedy.
We will never forget you, Trooper Blanton.

It is truly a tragedy to hear that such a young law enforcement officer's life was cut short, never having to realize a full career and the joys that come with it. More importantly, leaving behind a young wife and child is devastating. My sincere condolences to the family and friends of Trooper David Blanton and to the entire North Carolina Highway Patrol. Your service, dedication, and ultimate sacrifice will not be forgotten. Rest In Peace.

Trooper Blanton, may God keep you in his loving arms until you are reunited with your loved ones again in Heaven. To the family, I wish I had the words to comfort you all. This was indeed a great loss of a promising young officer. In times like these we all wonder why a tragedy like this is allowed to happen. Certainly I wish I had the answer to that question for you. Know that you are in the thoughts and prayers of your law enforcement family. May the lord ease your pain and protect you all.

There are three defining persons that have willingly died for you. Jesus Christ, the US Soldier and the Law Enforcement Officer. Jesus died for your eternal security. The Soldier died for your national security. The LEO died for your personal security. As Jesus now lives, so, too, shall these two other saviors. Rest In Peace .
