Reflections for Trooper David Shawn Blanton, Jr.
We lift up the Blanton family and the NCHP in our prayers during these sad times. He who chooses the warrior's path may not always return, but his sacrifice for freedom and justice will live eternally. Rest in peace friend and brother.

The Memorial page is too Long.. It is filled with Heros who gave the Ultimate Sacrifice!! I am retired K-9 handler and wish that each and every Law Enforcement officer would be issued a K-9 partner! In most if not all situations such as Trooper Blanton here, it would definitely turn the tables in favor of the Trooper!!!
My Prayers to Tropper Blanton wife and Family.

Trooper Blanton
Sir, i have been watching your tradgic story with much interest. It is amazing but not suprising how long of a criminal record your killer had and the fact he was still on the street doing what he does break the law and put lives in danger. It shouldn't have took your life to keep this EVIL person in a cage, several court systems in Florida had the chance. I know it don't change anything now and most likely want in the future. I had the pleasure of meeting Trooper Giles Harmon briefly in 1985 when i was just getting started, a true hero just as you are and as are all the Troopers that have been taken from there familes in Haywood County over the last 23 years. I-40 in Haywood county is a dangerous strech of road and i admire all the Troopers and Deputies that try to keep it safe for all of us. May your Killer finally get his ultimate punishment and may the Lord somehow provide the strenght needed for your family, co-workers and especially your newborn to somehow continue on. Sir you will always be remembered.

Although I have not seen you since May 11,2006, the day we finally earned the title TROOPER, I have thought about you and the 27 others that graduated from the 115th Basic School many times. No matter what you always were positive, smiling and laughing, even though it got us in trouble a few times during those 29 long weeks. I was shocked to learn that night of what happened from one of our classmates as I too had a car stopped. I wish I could have been with you "fighting in the ditch against that pulpwooder". My thoughts and prayers go out to your Parents, Wife and Son. I know from now on you will be riding along with the remaining members of the 115th watching over us and protecting us. You maybe 10-42 forever but you will never be forgotten. Thank you for the memories, your dedication and service my fellow Trooper and Brother.

We have lost a member of our extended family. My heart is deeply grieving for the lost and I can not imagine the pain that is felt by Trooper Blanton's immediate family. God chose to take this youngman home and we may never know why. May God lift his family up during this trying time. Psalms 18:2

Soft and safe to thee my Brother, be thy earthly bed,
Bright and beautiful, be thy rising from it.
With fragrance eternal, may the sprig of acacia ever there flourish, may the earliest buds of spring spread their beauties over thy resting place, and there may the summer's last rose linger longest.
Though the cold blasts of winter may lay them in the dust and for a time destroy their loveliness, yet their fading is not final, for in the springtime they shall surly bloom again. So my Brother, in the bright morning of the world's ressurection, thy mortal frame now laid in the dust, shall come again in newness of life, and spread in immortal beauty, in realms beyond the skies, until then, my Brother, until then.....farewell.
