David,
It hurts to see another brother or sister needlessly taken from this fraternity we call "law enforcement." Know that your dedication and your service will never be forgotten and will forever be enshrined in our memories - whether we knew you or not. You wear the badge, the mark of selfless service and for that we will all know you again one day. Until then, RIP my brother and I will see you on the other side. Can't believe this happened in our neck of the woods. Such a loss for our community-he put his life on the line every day for US and I personally will never forget him. His family is grieving a huge loss and I know God will carry them through this horrible time--Shawn is looking down on us right now-Thank you , Shawn-for all that you have done to serve our town.

My brother,
As i lay down at night all i see is your face as i close my eyes. I think of our trip to Smokemont and Joe fallin and how hard we laughed once we realized he was ok. I hope i make you proud of me as you watch over me from your Patrol Car in Heaven! I miss you so much Shawn i don't know how to explain it. i have had so much time to look back at how we could just go back and forth at eachother as we played ball or fished, and how we would send pictures of others people deer they killed! i love you and miss you oh so dearly.

Another hero is lost at the hands of a man who should have been in prison. When will the justice system wake up. I had a close friend and platoon partner killed on Feb 27, 2007 (Kevin Carper) at the hands of a man who should have been in jail. But we as law enforcement officers can only polish our boots, put on our badges, and prepare ourselves for another shift of uncertainty. To the family of Trooper Blanton, you are in my prayers and thoughts, and I pray for nothing but peace and comfort be given you. To the fellow troopers and friends of Trooper Blanton, HOLD ON, HOLD ON to the memories of him, remember that smile, remember that one special call, remember that laugh. Memories are a gift of God that helps numb the pain. To Trooper Blanton, you died a hero, and I know that you are now patroling the highways of heaven, can you do me a favor, say hey to Kevin Carper for me, we miss him so much. Trooper David Shawn Blanton Jr, rest easy now, we have the watch.

Trooper Blanton, smile down from above and guide your baby son and give your wife the strength to carry on.

Although we did not know Officer Blanton, his tragic death has touched our hearts. Our prayers are with his family and for his baby. Such a tragedy like this simply cannot go unpunished. Hopefully the legal system will do its job and convict the individual who did this. He needs to know what he has taken from us all. God speed, Shawn. Page and Scott

Whether the uniform is gray, blue, black, green, or brown - We are all family. period. It's not about agency, it's not about municipality, and it's not about jurisdiction. It's about heart. All of our hearts are saddened as we mourn the loss of our brother.
Thanks for your service Trooper Blanton, your watch was much too short. All of our prayers are with you and your family, both by blood and by uniform and duty.

Trooper Blanton,
I never had the honor of meeting you but I am deeply saddened by your death. My sincere prayers go out to your grieving family, friends and fellow troopers.
A decade ago in Florida I arrested the "animal" that took your life. I learned of his release from prison when I heard about your tragic encounter with this beast!
I am sorry that you had to meet him alone on the highway! I know that you were valiant that night and are now home with our Loving Father; the maker of the Heavens and Earth! Rest easy knowing that your family is being cared for by your earthly family and God our Father.
As for your killer may he spend eternity begging for forgiveness!
RIP <><

My heart aches for the family of Trooper Blanton. Such a senseless tragedy when a routine traffic stop is no longer 'routine'. He gave his live protecting others. My prayers are with his wife and his young son. May they find the strength and courage to get them through this most difficult time in their lives.
Godspeed Trooper Blanton

First of all I want to say that I am from Rogersville, TN and was very disturbed when I read my local paper and saw the article on Officer Blanton's death. I met Officer Blanton a couple months ago, for all the wrong reasons - I was speeding. Although I hated to see him, he handled himself with upmost integrity and professionalism. I am truly sorry to Officer Blanton's family for their loss.
