I pray that God will ease your pain and provide you comfort. I am deeply sorrowed by your loss and tremble at the experience you are going through. Although not much here can give you joy right now, God can. I am praying for your son, Tye Blanton, that he will be strengthened. I am praying that one day you will smile again, even though I am sure that task seems insurmountable at this point. Your husband is respected and honored for what he gave.

It was with great sorrow that I read about the death of this brave young Trooper. I learned that he was the first member of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indians to become a trooper. May there be many more. My condolences to his family and friends.

It saddens my heart to hear of your loss. I was not honored to know Trooper Blanton or any of your family, but feel a kinsmanship as a fellow American Indian. Mine and my families prayers are with you all. We also pray for healing for Ty. May God's ever abounding peace comfort you through this most difficult time.

My heart breaks for this young family who has lost their husband and father. I am glad that Trooper Blanton got to meet his son no matter how short the time. My prayers are with the family during the difficult days to come as you adjust to life without him. Things never get back to normal, but you find a "new normal" by the grace of God. If you reach a point when you feel you can't go on, lean on God and He'll carry you.

I would like to express my deepest symathy, and prayers to the family, and friends. Trooper Blanton, is a brave man, he stood for what he believed in. As we all know that everytime we put our uniform on we take a great chance of not returning to our love ones. We still do it because of what we believe in and for the love of our jobs. Thank you Trooper Blanton for your devotion to your State and family. My prayers are with you and your family. Thank you my brother.

Coming from a family where my Dad was Sheriff, my brother a Captain , son a Federal officer and my husband a judge, I cannot imagine what Officer Blanton's wife and family must be feeling. My heart grieves for them all. Many folks are praying for them and would like to know how we can help them. Trooper Blanton,
Thank you for everything you gave to your family, your community, your job and your LEO family. I can't even start to know what your wife is going through. I pray God will hold her close and allow her to be able to tell Ty how special you are and he'll know you are a HERO to many people. I pray that your mother, dad and brother can have the same peace that God is so wonderful to give. Please know that we as your LEO family will watch over Michalea and Ty and be here if they need anything. Thank you for your service to our State and all that you stood for.

To the family and friends my thoughts and prayers are with you . To all the brothers and sisters in uniform, we honor the falling everyday by putting on the uniform gray, black, or blue, to serve and protect our citizens of our zone, and hope and pray we all go home. We hate to hear our worst fears come true, when someone one screams officer down in the gray, black, or blue. We all come running to see what we can do because we all want to get the person that did this to you. We are a family who takes care each other no matter the uniform black, gray or blue!
Rest in peace brother you will never be forgotten.

It is with a heavy heart that I learned of the senseless death of a fellow law enforcement officer. To the family of Trooper Blanton I pray for peace for you during this most difficult time. My family and I pray that your wife and son will also find peace from this tragedy. You willing laid down your life to protect the lives of others and yes some of those did not deserve your protection but the ultimate professional you swore to protect and serve. Protect and serve you did. God Bless the Blanton Family and the memory of Trooper Blanton will live on through the lives of those who loved him

I received an email from a friend in Houston, TX who used to live in North Carolina. Her sister-in-law forwarded an email asking for prayers for Trooper Blanton's little boy.
The email tugged on my heart strings. Five years ago this past January, my step brother, Virginia State Trooper Michael Todd Blanton was killed in the line of duty during a "routine" traffic stop. His story parallels that of Trooper Shawn's in so many ways...the names, both died far too young, serving their community, leaving behind a wife and young son and countless family members and friends to grieve their loss.
May the memory of Trooper David Shawn be eternal. May God comfort his wife, son, family and friends as they mourn. Finally, may God bless Tye with health and well-being.
