Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Jose Antonio "Tony" Diaz

You will always be Rememberd

Lewis Givens Security Officer

I just wanted to say I am so sorry for the kids and his fiance. It never gets any easier to hear of a officer shot doing his job. After 25 years I will finally retire and spend time with my family, and so many fine officers never get that far. I don't know Sheriff Antonio, but feel sad and anger. I guess it doesn't matter what agency loses a officer, it affects us all. Thank You Jose.

OFFICER DAVID AGUILAR
SAN JOSE POLICE DEPT.

People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because tough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf. Thank you Deputy Diaz for making the ultimate sacrifice. May you rest in God's everlasting peace, and know that you will not be forgotten. God bless you and your family.

I worked with Tony in IT Services and as with many, he left an impression on me. He was a man who loved life, family, music, color and laughter. I was heartbroken when I got the call. My prayers go out to his children. May they remember the man behind the badge. A lot of my friends are in public service, police or firemen. It takes a special heart to see the chaos and devastation every day and still come home and love those around them with an open heart. I struggle today as my daughter just graduated from high school and will be moving to from North Carolina to Woodland, CA to enter the same field. I am scared, but proud to know she will be joining those, like Tony, who give selflessly to their community. He has made an impression on many. My daughter still remembers his laughter and teasing while he showed her the data center in IT. This is the man he was to my family. Open, warm, compassionate and funny. May he rest in peace and his children have the opportunity to see how many lives he touched.

I am not a police officer, but the grandson of a retired Milford, Connecticut patrolman. I am a sailor, in the greatest Navy in the world. I too put my life on the line everday, so all Americans can sleep easy at night, so Officer Diaz could sleep easy at night. Today my heart aches, we lose brothers everday in Iraq and Afghanistan, I fail to understand why we have lost a brother here at home, yet again. We in the military are not heros as most Americans would say. Officer Diaz is the HERO. I cry everytime an officer dies, you ALL have my respect. Officer Diaz, rest in peace brother, you died a HERO.

Respectfully,

May God Bless and take care of you as well as your family and friends left behind. I myself lost my husband of 28 1/2 years on the job as a Lt. at the Memphis Police Department to murder in January. God will keep your spirit alive and may everyone lean on Him in this time of need and sorrow, as I have done. They all go too soon. Go and rest with God now.
