MOURNER'S KADDISH
An English Translation
Glorified and set apart be YHWH's great name throughout the world which He has created according to His will. May He establish His kingdom in your lifetime and during your days, and within the life of the entire House of Israel/ those who overcome with Elohim, speedily and soon; and say, Aw-mein.
May His great name be blessed forever and to all eternity.
Blessed and praised, glorified and exalted, extolled and honored, adored and lauded be the name of the Holy One, blessed be He, beyond all the blessings and hymns, praises and consolations that are ever spoken in the world; and say, Aw-mein.
May there be abundant peace from heaven, and life, for us and for all Israel/ those who overcome with Elohim; and say, Aw-mein.
He who creates peace in His celestial heights, may He create peace for us and for all Israel/ those who overcome with Elohim; and say, Aw-mein. B’Shem Yahushua HaMoshiach/ In the Name of YHWH’s Salvation the Messiah. A-mein.

The Meaning of Kaddish (Matt. 6)
Having read the translation of the Kaddish Prayer, one should realize that, although Jewish Law requires that the Kaddish be recited during the first eleven months following the death of a loved one by prescribed mourners, and on each anniversary of the death (the "Yahrtzeit"), and by custom in the State of Israel by all Jews on the Tenth of Tevet ("Yom HaKaddish HaKlali'), there is no reference, no word even, about death in the prayer!
The theme of Kaddish is, rather, the Greatness of Elohim, Who conducts the entire universe, and especially his most favored creature, each individual human being, with careful supervision. In this prayer, we also pray for peace - from apparently the only One Who can guarantee it - peace between nations, peace between individuals, and peace of mind.
Paradoxically, this is, in fact, the only true comfort in the case of the loss of a loved one. That is, to be able to view the passing of the beloved individual from the perspective that that person's soul was gathered in, so to speak, by the One Who had provided it in the first place.
As Beruriah, the great wife of Rabbi Meir, consoled her husband, upon the death of their two sons, with words to this effect, "A soul is comparable to an object which was given to us - to each individual, to his or her parents and loved ones, to guard and watch over for a limited time. When the time comes for the object to be returned to its rightful owner, should we not be willing to return it? With regard to our sons, let us therefore consider the matter as 'YHWH gave, and YHWH took back, may the Name of YHWH be Blessed!' "

Erik
It was a great privilege to have you as my First Sgt in the 354th Bulldogs. When I retired from the Air force and was accepted by TPD it was great to see you again and to be working with you as a fellow police officer. I looked up to you as a great friend and mentor. You never had a bad word to say about any one. You were always upbeat and so confident in everything you did. We will miss you and you will forever be in our hearts.

Erik, I spoke to you Friday morning 05/30/08, and you greeted me with the usually "What's up big guy". We talked about how much you enjoyed being a field trainer, and how happy you were that you had good "rookies" . On Sunday 06/01/08 at 11:22 I got a message that I will never forget. Had I known on Friday that it was the last time I would speak to you I don't know if I would change what was said. It all focused on your desire to help others, and your love for teaching others how to be their best. I can't think of a better way to remember you. When I raced into work on Sunday I found a scene you would have been proud of, every Police Officer or Firefighter I saw was there to help/honor/protect you and your family. You made the ultimate sacrifice protecting others, and for that you are a hero. You once again put yourself between the evil and the good. You dedicated your life to helping those that often couldn't help themselves. You've done more then anyone has asked of you, and now you can rest. We'll take it from here, and your community is forever in your debt.

Erik was a true American hero in every since of the word. He was a good person with a great sense of humor. I will miss his smile. Every so often I would get a email from him I would hear about his adventures in Germany and Honduras but he truly found home in Arizona. I will keep Eric's family in my thoughts and prayers.
