Your heroism and service is honored today, the 98th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

I don't know that anyone from the Newbern Family will ever read this, but I hope that some fellow Georgia law enforcement officers read this and think about the many great men and women who went before us enforceing the law in God's Country -- The Great State of Georgia.
Reading how Chief Newbern died made me reflect on the numerous times that I almost lost my life over my 34Y3M on the Georgia State Patrol and Georgia Bureau of Investigation. I have had friends die in the line of duty and so many times I have asked Him why He took my friends and didn't take me. God's will and it wasn't my time is all I can think of.
God Bless all Georgia law enforcement officers whether or not you are local, state or federal. Thanks for keeping our families safe.
