Trooper Burns, the outpour of love and admiration in your reflections truly "reflect" your qualities of life and the dedication you possessed as a Law Enforcement Officer. I have truly been touched and saddened alike during the ongoing investigation in which has now come to an end. Your brothers in BLUE did not rest until he was found. As a police dispatcher, the news of your passing weighs heavy on my heart. Go rest now and be at peace. You did a fine job.
To Mrs. Burns and your sweet precious child, I am truly, deeply sorry for your loss. May God give you, your family and friends peace and comfort during this difficult time. You've got so much love surrounding you right now. Through the reflections, I have learned your husband was a fine & noble man. Be proud. We certainly are.

No greater love hath a man....
than he lay down his life for his brother man.
In the line of duty....
In service to others....
For the safety of all..
With no regard for self...
Some give all.
Your badge has earned you wings,
Your Stetson is a golden halo.
Your "Lone Star" has brighten the heavens.
We stand in awe of your bravery, we are humbled by your sacrifice. We are overwhelmingly saddened by our loss of you. We honor your life and memory.

As a former Cass County Deputy Sheriff from 1987-1999 I would like to extend my heart felt condolences to the family of Trooper Scott Burns. I have known Scott for almost 20 years, and knew him to be a very kind and respected member of Linden and the Cass County community. The loss of a fellow officer is never easy, and foremost never forgotten. On behalf of Scott's fellow brothers in "Blue" from California, I say a prayer for him and his family in this time of grief. May God Bless.

To the wife and daughter of Trooper Burns,
I just heard of your tragedy this evening while watching the news. I immediately came to the ODMP website to see the details of what happened. I could not believe what I saw. I am so very sorry for your loss. Please know that you and your entire family will be in my prayers. I just did a memorial for my father who has been gone for 25 years and in that memorial I said that my greatest joy was knowing that he is up above watching over his grandchildren as their guardian angel. You and you baby girl now have your own special guardian angel watching over you from Heaven. God Bless and comfort you and your family.
Thank you Trooper Burns for your service and bravery.

It took less than 48 hours and justice has been served. They got him just as they said they would. Rest in peace and know we are all so very grateful for you and for those who served with you. I have two small children and my deepest sympathies are with your family at this time. Your legacy will live on in your child.
