To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 50th anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to be among the first to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

My goodness - I had no idea this site was here. Hilton was my stepfather and today, at age 63, I remember his death as if it were yesterday. I was 19 years old and working for the FBI up in DC when agents showed up at my door, told me to pack and go home, my stepfather had been killed. They already had my bus ticket taken care of. He was beaten so badly you could see the bruises through the makeup. I couldn't go to funerals for years after that, it had such a deep effect on me.
Hilton was a good man and I loved him. He had no children of his own, but he really tried very hard to be good to me and took up time with me even though he sometimes had to work part-time jobs (at a soda fountain in a drugstore or driving a cab) to supplement his pay. He still made time for me. Looking at his picture on this site brings back the good memories of a good man.
I suppose one of my funnier memories was that he called Elvis Presley "Evels Peevels." He was like most parents back in those days!
I love you, Hilly, and you're not forgotten.
Love, Jo-Ann
