Rest in Peace Sir.....

To Officer Fezatte's family, friends, and loved ones...I know that there are truly no words that help to heal or that help to ease the pain. Just know that there are many who understand. It has been 12 years for myself and each day I think of my brother, some days are definitely harder that others, but life does go on. Take solace in the fact that Officer Fezatte is a very special person who was one of the chosen few to participate in the family of policemen. So from one survivor to another...God bless you and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you ALL so much for you thoughts, prayers, and deeds. I am truly HUMBLED by the out-pouring. YOUR words have comforted me and the boys more than you can know, and my words cannot express the gratefulness of yours. Jim is and was the love of my life. Those who knew us together knew the love and respect we had for one another. I am at a total loss as to how to express the love and appreciation for everyone who has sent forth their love, time, and talents (in ALL forms). Y'all are a great blessing to us all.

Jim is a true friend and Brother in Arms(USAF), Jim and I shared the same career path. Jim and I crossed paths many years ago and didnt realize that fact. Through our conversations together after we joined the same police department we discovered that my unit relieved his unit during a deployment in Desert Storm. We enjoyed talking about the 'good ole' days' on occassion, life in the Air Force that is, we would engage in conversations with terms and statements that seemed like code to the others around us. It was always a pleasure to see Jim coming into work his shift because always had a kind word and smile to greet you. I had the opportunity to briefly work on 3rd shift and the bond they formed with each other was greatly apparent in the way they accepted Jim into their "9th ward" and gave him an honorary title of "LaFezatte". These men have a bond with one another that is genuine and cannot be severed. I commend them on their strength and courage throughout this ordeal, they have expressed nothing but true honor for their fallen brother.

I offer my most sincere condolences...to the wife...sons... family...and friends...of Police Officer James D. Fezatte.

Whenever I read that it was an automobile accident...that led to the loss of life...and so often it is...I know exactly how that takes your breath away...because it is also...how my brother...was taken from us. I am truly sorry for your family...it is painfully heartbreaking...to have a loved one...stolen from his life...and yours...in such an untimely...sudden...and tragic way.

I pray that God will send you...the graces needed...as you cope with your grief...at this very sad...and devastating time.

Remember that one day...you all will be together again... but until then...know that...he is watching over his loved ones...from a far better place.

Eternal rest grant unto Officer James D. Fezatte, may the perpetual light shine upon him for having made the ultimate sacrifice in protecting and serving his community, and may his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen

With my deepest sympathy...

To many the connection may be hard to see. But many 12 hour shifts in a lonely parking lot were made easier by Jim's presence. Hours of talking and laughing. Seeing how long it would take to make him blush. Talking about anything and everything. Laughing and sometimes serious. Never was it too much for him to take the time to answer a question or give advice on a problem. Although many never see what happens on the night shift, He never missed an opportunity to spend a few minutes making my nights easier. The hardest thing was to go to work and know he wouldn't roll through just to check on me again. I thought a hundred times of things I needed to tell him that first night and would burst into tears when I remembered that I would never get to tell him face to face.

I will miss you so much Fuzzybutt ... May you rest for eternity in the arms of our Lord.

Jim,
I am overseas at this time and was saddened to hear we lost you. I have worked with some of your fellow officers and know you were in good hands as you rode the streets. A life of service to others will likely not put wealth in your pocket but the hearts that are full because of you out weigh all of the riches of the world. All that is asked of an Officer is to love his family, love his fellow man, and put his life on the line for all of them. You did that in your service to your country and your community. Rest now for your toil is over. Look over your brothers and sisters and if they make the sacrifice you have, put your arm around their shoulder and welcome them home. Defensor Fortis brother.

I just wanted to say that this was one of the hardest experiences I have ever had to deal with. I have had lots of losses in my life but this was the hardest loss I have suffered. Officer Fezatte was truely a great person. He was a great officer too. He never had a negative comment to make and always had a smile on his face. He will be held close to our hearts always at the Millbrook Police Department. Though it has been a loss in the physical sense, officer Fazette's wonderful spirit will live on forever!

I am not sure what to say..I find myself at a loss of words..I attended your funeral today and from what was said you were a great man..You still are, just in a different place. Your duty here on Earth is over but your eternity in Heaven has just began. You are a blessed soul. There were many people honoring you today.. You have two wonderful young men left here on earth to carry you on. And I am sure they are to make you proud. And a beautiful wife that will never forget you I am sure. Not to mention the family that seemed so very proud of you. I pray God be with your family and Millbrook at this hard time and give them all they need to help to heal their broken hearts. True Heroes Never Die! Live strong above and watch over your brothers/sisters in blue bellow. God Bless You!!

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Officer Fezatte and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever. Today, because of the sacrifice Officer Fezatte has made, the house of freedom is stronger, sturdier, and more secure.

To the family, friends, and colleagues of Officer Fezatte, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with him when he walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that he will always be with you - wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Officer Fezatte is a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

For those who pledge to uphold it, Freedom requires a sacrifice the protected will never know.
