Reflections for Police Officer James Dean Fezatte
Rest in peace Officer Fezatte.
Rabbi Lewis S. Davis

J.D., you're still in our memory.
I look at the Officer Down page all the time; never expecting to see a familiar name one the list, then I saw yours. I refused to believe it was you, then I saw your picture. My heart stopped because a friend of mine passed away, way too young. I was heartbroken and at the same time ashamed; ashamed because it was years after you passed that I found out.
Cyndi, I was stationed with J.D. at Patrick AFB, Florida where we worked on the same shift. I’m sorry for your loss; you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Today would be our 23rd wedding anniversary. We miss you every day. You were a good husband, father, son and brother. "It's not how they died that makes them heroes, but how they lived." You will always be a hero to us. I miss you, Honey.

Jim, You would be proud to know that your family has become active in supporting the families of fallen Officers. Our agency has been flying a blue ribbon on our antenna's that we received from your family to honor Police Memorial week.
I will never forget the night of your passing. I was the Deputy that met with your Mom and Dad and told them that you had died in the line of duty. Every time I drive by their place, I remember that fateful night. It will stay with me forever and keep me safe.
Rest in peace Brother.

Jim,
I can't believe its been over two years. I still think of you all the time. My thin blue line bracelet I have had on for two years now broke the other day, it almost brought tears to my eyes. I always enjoyed looking at it and thinking of you while I am driving all over the place for work. But, in the end it is just I bracelet I guess, and I don't have to have it to remember you. We miss you Jim. Always will.

I never had the chance to meet you as far as I know, but I am sure we ran into each other in our travels through Millbrook. I lost three of my friends, all of whom were police officers, in January of 2000. If you run into Chris Guidry, Kenny Guidry and Burt LeBlanc, tell em Sarah said hey.

To those who loved Officer Fezatte, my heart goes to you all. Know that you're not alone in this journey you walk. I lost my fiance in the line of duty January 2003 and my world was forever changed. It's been a long hard road, and even as time as gone forward, and I've found many reasons and ways to smile, I still have not forgotten the man that he was. Dennis was a beautiful person and he forever has a part of my heart, just as I'm sure James will always be a part of yours.
It takes a special person to put their lives on the line everyday to make this world a little safer for us all. I know many of these men never would've thought of themselves as "heroes" but they were in so many ways. It's sad that it they had to lose their lives for some of us to see that. Having said that, thank you Officer Fezatte for helping to make this world a better place. You will not be forgotten here in Winnipeg. I know this isn't a very manly thing to do, but if you happen to run into Dennis up there, please give him a big hug for the kids and I. Dennis was a good man and we miss him more than words can say.
Wishing those who loved you brighter and better days,
Jocelyne

Jim, Even though I thought I knew you were a great man I am only Begining to know what great things you had done here on earth, day by day story by story. Your family has become great friends with a lot of the officers and we have all tried to keep a close eye on Cyndi and the boys. To bad we were not as close, while you were still with us, because our wives have a lot in common and the biys are something else. Austin got me real good the other night, playing a joke on me, but that is for another time. Keep us safe there brother and we will help you look after the family.
