Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Andy Todd Early

As the current Sheriff of Audrain County, I will say, Andy was injured and passed before I could know him well.

My passion is police dogs, and my current dog (which I'm training as I type this) is K9 Andi (a female GSD) and is named in his memory.

She will do what Andy did day to day - what she can to protect the fine people of Audrain County.

I'm honored to handle his name sake - a fearless, dedicated member of the Audrain County Sheriff's Office.

Forgive me for missing the anniversary of your E.O.W., but I felt as though I could not continue to read about so many tragedies. I now realize the visit each day to leave a word of encouragement and hope to the loved ones of others, helps me to remember that I am not alone with my pain and heartbreak. So may I say to your friends and loved ones that my thoughts and prayers are with them now and always. Continue to keep watch over them and those still out on patrol and may they know you will never be forgotten.

To the family and friends of Deputy Andy Early and his fellow deputies:

On behalf of our entire family, we wish to pay honor to Andy's memory on the third anniversary of the day Andy so tragically lost his life. His heroism, valor and bravery will be forever remembered.

May you be continue to be comforted by the support and caring of your law enforcement family, and other police survivors. We grieve for you and with you. Our family lost our beloved Larry Lasater when he was fatally shot in April of 2005 during a foot pursuit of two bank robbers, so we know the anquish you are still experiencing.

Please know that the brotherhood and sisterhood of law enforcement and police survivors will always be by your side on each step of the journey.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the years of service Andy gave to his community and the citizens of Missouri, and the supreme sarifice he and his family made on February 1, 2006 and each day since his injury occurred. God bless this brave officer and those who love him.

Andy was one of the most caring and helpful people I have ever known and had the opportunity to work with. Andy was one of my FTO's and I have great admiration for him.

Whenever I think about Andy, I always think of the times we teased him. Andy was kinda short and when he was wearing his bright orange traffic jacket, we would tease him a little and call him a traffic cone, Andy always laughed and said haha funny.

Andy had lots of spirit and could turn a persons bad day good. Andy was fair and I truely believe whatever his actions or decisions were, they were with fairness and respect. He was one of the good guys.

God bless you Andy.

Dear Sir: I was Andy Early's nurse for the last 3 years of his life. He died while I was taking care of him that day. There has never been a better friend than Andy, he is deeply missed and when I moved to Texas I became a Corrections Officer. I heard he is being honored in Washington, but don't know details. Could someone give me more information? We were so lucky those that had the chance to know Andy. Laurie
