Police Officer Derek Owens thank you for your service and dedication. Rest in Peace. To the family of Officer Owens I understand the pain you are going through. I lost my brother who was a WV State Trooper and I am praying for all of you. Please know that Derek is in deed a true hero, be proud of him, it is so easy to want to become bitter, due to the loss of a loved one. I never knew him but I know what it is like and all the mixed emotions your going through.

I never met him, but what me and my friends heard . it breaks my heart that he died so tragic. He seems like a terrific man and i am sure his family will be proud.
to his kids..think of your dad in the warmest thoughts. When u feel sad and want to talk to him find a picture and set up a corner in your home and set up a private memorial where u can say everything u want and he will be your guardian angel.
my parents are gone..but i did the same thing.
your father will want you to live on and fulfill your own life.
