Dear Bill,
I will never be able to express to you what you have meant to me for all of these years. You have been the best "Big Brother" anyone could ask for. You have been a great mentor, role model and friend. Kristin, Jamie and I will miss you dearly. My childhood memories as well as the more recent memories will be cherished forever. It is difficult to imagine the coming days without you. Take care of Dad and all of our other loved ones that are up there with you. We will someday join together again for one helluva reunion. You have always been "My Hero" and will always remain "My Hero".

Love and Miss You So Much!!!

Damn, Bill. It's been nearly two weeks, and I still can't wrap my head around this, or find any words. I can still hear your voice clear as day inside my head. I saw your sons at the funeral, and it struck me just how long ago it really was that we went to the academy--they were tiny last I knew, now they're grown men. I can't express the disbelief I felt when I got there that night, or the grief, anger, and rage that I've felt since. Rest in peace, brother. We'll see you eventually. Cindy, boys, if you read this, know that you have a whole extended family out here that is ready to lend a shoulder whenever you need one.

Bill, You were such a inspiration on New Years Day talking for hours to our son Luke. We thought that after this tragedy Luke may have some doubts. It has done just the oppisite. Luke has become even more motivated because of what has happened. We will miss you greatly at our Xmas Eve gatherings. We love you and always will. You will always be in our hearts. Love, Steve, Lisa, Casey, Luke and Austin Sherrill (Family)

Somebody killed a policeman today,
and part of america died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect will be buried at his side.
The suspect that shot him will stand in court with counsel demanding his rights.
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids, and spend many long lonely nights.
The beat that he walked was a battle field too, just as if he had gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation wont fly at half mast, to his name they will add a gold star.
Yes somebody killed a policeman today,
in your town or mine.
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors, a cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street and he stands at each rookies side.
He answered the call
of himself gave his all
AND A PART OF AMERICA DIED.

R.I.P. Brother, walk the beat on the heavenly streets, we will take this one from here.

Hey Bill,
Could you ask God to watch over the colleges? And maybe ask him why all these shootings are happening? I need his help understanding. What is the world coming too? I know you, Ballman, and McEntee are going to watch over the other's that are joining you there. Could you please tell God we need more angels? This is one twisted world...please protect us.

Sgt,

For the last 10 years I have been honored to have you as my BOSS. While we did not always see eye to eye, that's what made it so much fun.

Never again will there be another, you are turely one of a kind.

I hope that we made you proud, as you made all of us.

Take care of the boys up there with you, God knows those two will be causing trouble.
