Officer Simmons as a child I remember being impressed by you during the numerous SWAT segments on LAPD: Life on the Beat. Seeing and reading about your dedication to hard work and to helping out the local community has inspired me to pursue a career in law enforcement(LAPD) once my commitment to the U.S. Army ends. Nothing put continued prayers for your family as you watch down on us. Thank You for your service.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the fourth anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect and you will always be honored and revered. I pray for solace for all those that love and remember you for I know the pain and pride are forever. Your family is in my heart's embrace today. Thanks to your family for sharingi in their reflections their devotion to you.
Rest In Peace.

I have been thinking about Randy lately as he use to come into our center and answer calls on our Suicide Prevention Center phone line. I still remember the last time I saw him walking into our office. He was always so kind to our hopeless and helpless callers, speaking to them in such a compassionate and gentle way. I miss your sweet sweet ways Randy.

Randy, I never knew you. Your death was shocking to us all. I was working a task force in West Valley the night of your shooting. My partner and I kept up on the series of 911 calls that were coming from the hostage stand off. The calls were so crazy it almost sounded as if the whole situation was a hoax. Sadly it wasn't. My partner and I responded to the help call after you had been shot. There were plenty of other officers at the scene and it appeared that there were no officers to guide the two RAs to the hospital. We took care of that and guided the RAs to Northridge Hospital. I will never forget those few miles and the hours after at the hospital. We stood guard at the hospital that night, and it was the longest hours of my life and really brought me back to my childhood when two detectives came to my door and spoke to my mother when I was 4. I knew what it meant back then, and I knew that your family was getting the same notification. I met several of your family members that night as they arrived at the hospital. It was not my job to advise them of your condition, but it tore me up inside knowing what the reality was. I still have the announcement from your funeral in my locker and look at it everyday as I prepare for work. RIP brother, you are missed.
