Reflections for Police Officer Randal David Simmons

Your courage and faith in God is the reason why you were called home to our Lord so soon. He wanted the world to see what a real man of God was/is. You exemplified what it was to be a man. Your work and dedication to our youth shall not be forgotten, and enough thanks can not be given to you for all that you have done. The world was a much better place with you in in. Now there will be a void that can never be filled because there are no others like you. Rest In Peace Brother Randy. You will be missed.

Brother you answered the call......and for that you have taken your place among this nations heros.

Even though we've never met...I know you well. You're disire to fight for the cause of justice and the safety of strangers was shown for all to see in your final act.

May your family take comfort in the knowledge that all of the law enforcement community stands solidly behind them in this time of great sorrow. We have your back Simmons. You will be missed, brother, but never forgotten.

"Final Call"

An Angel In The Sky Must Leave His Place Of Rest,
Gently Tucking His Wings Beneath His Armored Vest.
For Duty Has Called, There Is Much Work To Do
Little Did He Know, This One Is Dressed In Blue.

Arriving On The Scene, He Knows Just What To Say,
"Follow Me, Fallen Brother, I'll Show You The Way."
"Your Duty Has Ended, Your Work Is Now Through."
"Come Hang Your Hat Beside Mine, I'm A Cop, Too."

A true man of God. I believe his life was not taken but that he laid it down. Not the last words spoken in this life is what defines the spirit of this man but the words in the next life ... "Well done good and faithful servant". His chivalry will not be forgotten.

To the family of Police Officer Randy Simmons,

Nobody could ever explain why good men like your husband, dad and son fall victim to a brutal murder. However, he died for all of us, so we can live in a better society, free of drugs and killers. May he rest in peace. He will always be remembered in our Police community. He will never be forgotten.

Being Born and raised in the City of Los Angeles, and having a career in law enforcement, the passing of this officer really bothered me. I know several people back home in Los Angeles that knew Officer Simmons, and all thought he was an outstanding individual who put others before himself. My condolences go out to his family and friends, and may he rest in peace with the Lord. To his family and friends.....

"The greatest peace I've ever found I've found in troubled times, but when I put my trust in God he eased my troubled mind.

Your family and Los Angeles Police Department will forever be in my thoughts and prayers.

May the Lord Bless Officer Simmons, his wife Lisa, children Matthew and Gabriella and his family, friends and fellow colleagues during this incredibly difficult time. Randy will continue to live through the lives of his two beautiful children and through the memories that will be forever cherished.
What a truly remarkable, amazing man with the most beautiful heart and beautiful spirit. Just breath taking and a true example of a man who lived his life to the fullest and truly by example. He is no doubt, God's masterpiece.
We love you always and will never be forgotten.
Mrs. Simmons, you are a strong woman with two beautiful children who will make both you and Randy proud.

I just read over all the reflections left by various citizens and officers, alike. All of them have a common denominator - that Randy was a man of faith and everything he did was a reflection of his love of God.

What an honor it was for me, to have been able to fold the flag that drapped the coffin of Officer Randy Simmons. I know that I am speaking for all of the members of the LAPD Honor Guard.

To the Simmons family...I know that Randy's passing will leave a monumentous void in your lives, but how proud you must be knowing that thousands of people that viewed the ceremony on television now know what a wonderful man your
Randy was.

I have heard many people comment on how they were glued to the t.v. Many also commented on the beautiful eulogy that your son gave.

I wish I had the privilege of knowing Randy when he was alive, but I also consider it a privilege to learn about him through his death.

To the SWAT Team ~ My heart is with you during these sad times, but you must be comforted knowing that Randy is up there watching over all of you.

God bless you all during your struggles. If you have the faith...keep it. If you don't...now is the time to find it.

Officer Simmons,

You were the best of the best, LAPD SWAT!! You have made everyone in the department realize how vulnerable we all are everyday and how quickly everything could vanish. That's why we should live our lives according to how we want to be remembered and oh how you did that! You left a legacy that most people only dream of. You are truly a hero in every sense of the word. Taking a phrase from my favorite movie: Braveheart, "Everybody dies but not everybody really lives!" You lived your life exactly how God expects us to but only a select few do. You truly are an inspiration to all of us.

You also have accomplished for one day, what rarely happens in the City of Angels, the public & the media and the police department were hand in hand the day of your funeral paying respects to a man that did everything the right way. Rest In Peace my brother in blue.

Somebody killed a policeman today,
and part of america died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect will be buried at his side.
The suspect that shot him will stand in court with counsel demanding his rights.
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids, and spend many long lonely nights.
The beat that he walked was a battle field too, just as if he had gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation wont fly at half mast, to his name they will add a gold star.
Yes somebody killed a policeman today,
in your town or mine.
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors, a cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street and he stands at each rookies side.
He answered the call
of himself gave his all
AND A PART OF AMERICA DIED.

R.I.P. Brother. walk the beat on the heavenly streets, we will take this one from here...

Simply said, you leave behind those you love. But as you watched from you your place in heaven, they are strong. They exhibit their love of god, and their support for one another.

Your actions in this world demonstrate your commitment to you Lord, your family and friends, and your calling. As said you were a Christian, a wonderful husband and father, and a great Officer. You have left a wonderful legacy, and by accepting the Lord, you have a place in heaven.

Take care, and the Lord will take care of everyone else!

I would just like to say that my heart is very heavy after watching the Memorial Service and Graveside Service of Officer Simmons. I haven't cried that hard for that long in quite a while. My sincere condolences to the Simmons Family and the LAPD Family. After hearing Officer Simmons' son speak at the Memorial Service, it is completely evident that Randy Simmons lived life to the fullest, and a more unselfish man we will probably never see again this side of Heaven. Godspeed, Randy, and God Bless and watch over your beautiful family. Lisa Cotton, Rancho Cucamonga, California
