There is a hole in the Blue Line today
We lost a dear family member in gray.
Down in the “Line of Duty” he went
His full time here not yet fully spent.

His family and friends, they now gather near
To remember how it was, when he was here.
With sliding tear and trembling smile,
We know we won’t see him again for a while.

We reminisce and laugh a bit
At the thought of him not getting into it
With other gray brothers and sisters too
Chasing the bad ones and catching them too.

Now the Bagpipes are silent and the quiet descends
We know that our time with him never truly ends.
We feel him near on our daily patrols
Sitting there watching as our day unfolds.

But we know as we go along driving our beat
There is an angel there in the passenger’s seat.
Guiding our thoughts and our hands through the day
Keeping us clear of harm’s deadly way.

There is a hole in the Blue Line today
We lost a dear family member in gray.
Down in the “Line of Duty” he went
His full time here not yet fully spent.

We miss you.
God Speed My Brother.
