Godspeed Brother...Go in Peace

It was a hot August day in 2000. I was dispatched to my first fatal collision on Interstate 40. Sergeant LeBow was my supervisor and met me at the scene with my FTO, Phillip Pierce. Phillip laughed and said this was the best time to learn. My quick wit mouth said a few things to Phillip. Rick being ever the professional, kept me in line, reminding me that we were among the civilian population. Through the years whenever I have worked a collision and needed advice, he was the one I called. He will be truly missed by me, Troop "H", and the State Police. Rick, you can now take that towel off your neck on those hot August days! I'll miss you Brother!

It was just a couple of weeks ago, I was at the police department talking to Rick about accident sketches. He tought me more about accidents in just the few minutes I talked with him than I have learned in my whole career. There will never be another officer who will ever fill Ricks shoes, the rest of us can only hope to come close. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

Rick...ty for being such a wonderful big
brother to me...For Rick & Kathy, & his
sons, Charles & Caleb...my love

"He's Flying with the Angels"

"He's flying with the angels, that beautiful
Ric of ours
He was given his golden wings, in morning's
quiet hours
He took his last breath, then began his
heavenly flight
He has a shining halo, placed on him quietly
that night

Now he's flying with the angels, up in heaven's
sky
And he sends down his love, his kiss on earth's
goodbye
With peace laying in his heart, he's with God
above
& he's wrapped in his wings, in God's arms, in
His love

He's lighting up the heavens, with that beautiful,
quiet smile
But the distance between us, is less than a
mile
In tender and quiet moments, with the flutter of
his wings
We will know that he is with us, his song to us,
so sing

He hold's his beautiful wife Kathy's heart, in his
gentle quiet hands
Protecting their eternal love, a blessed and un-
broken band
His sons, his mother & his sister's
love, are folded in his wings
As he lovingly carries their hearts, ...heaven's
bells shall ring

Now he's flying with the angels, up in heaven's
sky
& he sends down his love, his kiss on earth's
goodbye
With peace laying in his heart, he's with God
above
& he's wrapped in his heavenly Father's wings,
in His eternal love.

Your sister...I Love you

Sgt. LeBow was one of kind. It didn't matter if you were city police or a county deputy he treated you like a brother and friend. A passage in the bible comes to mind:
Matthew 5:9 "Blessed are the peacekeepers, for they shall be called sons of God".
