James Daryl Haynes aka 'Rock' was the epitome of courage, loyalty, and substance. In November 2007, W.J. Keenan High School class of 1987 celebrated their 20th year reunion. Seeing Rock there was great!! About a month later, we had a phone conversation. We talked about old times, the reunion, family, and life. Two things stick out from this conversation (which was the last time that we talked). He was very passionate about his profession as a Highway Patrol Officer. Yet, he was very passionate about returning home to spend time with his family. In terms of his attitude toward his job, he said 'I go all out when I am in hot pursuit. I give it 120%.' My prayers go out to his wife and two sons. Rock, it was a pleasure to know you. You will be forever remembered.

"Call To Duty"
I never dreamed it would be me,
My name for all etermity,
Recorded here at this hallowed place,
alas, my name, no more my face.
"In the Line of Duty" I hear them say,
my family now the price to pay.
My folded flag stained with their tears,
we only had a few short years.
The badge no longer on my chest,
I sleep now in eternal rest.
My sword I pass to those behind,
and pray they keep this thought in mind.
I never dreamed it would be me.
And with a heavy heart and bended knee,
I ask for all here from the past.......
Deat God, let my name be the last.
