Haynes, I will miss you greatly, you were always a joy to work with,
Making being your dispatcher easy, and always a pleasure.
The nights I would be tongue tied on the radio, you knew how to make it light,
And make me laugh at myself. Thanks for all the jokes and and smiles.I will keep
Your precious wife and kids in my prayers, daily, as they deal with such a loss.

DARKNESS FALLS
CALL IT FATE, CALL IT FAITH,
CALL IT HOPE, CALL IT FEAR.
WE DO WHAT WE MUST TO SURVIVE
WHEN THE END DRAWETH NEAR.
WE THROW OUR PRAYERS TO THE SKY
AGAINST THE HARD POURING RAIN,
AS WE PUT OUR LIVES UPON THE LINE
JUST TO TRY AND STOP THE PAIN.
AS THE STROBE LIGHTS FLASH, AND THE SIREN WAILS,
A TEAR IS SHED AS THIS SIMPLE HEART FAILS.
WHAT WAS JUST ANOTHER ROUTINE CALL,
TURNS TRAGIC AS FOR THIS ONE DARKNESS FALLS.
CRY AS YOU MAY ON THE INSIDE,
YOUR EXTERIOR COOL AS EVER,
YOU HIDE YOUR PAIN, AS IS ALWAYS DONE.
FOR DEATH IS A CONSTANT, BUT PEACE IT COMES NEVER.
ALONE IN THE DARKNESS, YOU TEAR YOURSELF APART,
QUESTIONING, WHAT MORE COULD I HAVE DONE?
YOUR SHIFT CONTINUES, ANOTHER CALL YOU MUST TAKE,
BUT, AS ALWAYS, A PART OF YOU DIES, FOR THIS ONE HE TOOK

My name is David Deering, I have known James for eight years and worked with him. Everytime I would see James he would hug me. I never heard anyone speak poorly of him and he was highly respected by his peers and the public. There is no doubt that he is in heaven because he had a close relationship with God and was such a good Christian. Our prayers go out to him and his family.

LC James D Haynes will be greatly missed in many areas of our lives. He was first and most importantly a man of great character. LC Haynes was a man with distinguished morals and values in life. A real "Trooper" in life - not just in title or position - but like a soldier - he was a man of great honor. Someone that was willing to serve "ALL" regardless of your last name, the color of your skin or your position. A man that was able to be called on at anytime to help and/or assist you in any task. LC James D. Haynes was a man that wore his uniform as proudly and he wore his name. LC Haynes was a true public servant. Not just a man drawing a paycheck from the government. LC Haynes was a family member of many households because of his warm personality and beautiful smile. In my family household, (a household of a deceased fellow officer) - RET. SGT. L. James Myers, Sr., where Haynes called my mother - "Mom" - Haynes always sought her for a kiss on the cheek and a great big hug. When my father passed 12-04-2007 (just a couple of weeks ago) I witnessed seeing LC Haynes come into the home with many items of need and even sharing in a meal with some of the family members. He felt at home because he was at home in the Myers' residence. He shed tears with my family like I now shed tears with his precious wife and two sons. My family will have a place in our hearts for LC Haynes and his family forever.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Lance Corporal Haynes' Family & Friends also. I was stopped by Corporal Haynes in December on Columbia Rd. It's never a pleasant experience when you get stopped, but I was blessed to be stopped by him. He was very kind and gave me a warning. When I gave praise to God for the warning, I told him that he may not understand, and he said yes ma'am I do. I have kept that warning in my pocketbook as a reminder that you don't have to be in a hurry to go anywhere, because God has you right where you are for a reason. I'm thankful to have met him, if just for that moment. God bless you all!

To the Haynes family: I can say that it was an honor to know Corporal Haynes, and I am thankful that I had the opportunity to share time and space with him. Death is not an easy thing for any family to go through, but it is important for all of us to rest in God's Grace, and allow it to sustain us through this difficult time. For it is in our weakness that HE (The Father) is most strong.
To James:"For you were like a sheep going astray, but now you have return to the Shepard and Overseer of your soul".
