This one hits me harder than most b/c I'm from New Orleans. Too young to be taken away from this earth. Officer Cotton, you fought this scumbag for 7 minutes, 7 minutes with someone twice your size. You acted like a hero in the face of eminent danger. You will not be forgotten, you will be remembered, your life celebrated, and your courage, HONORED! Rest in peace ma'am, watch over all of us, be our guardian angel.
Sincerely,
Deputy Darren Gros

My most sincere condolences...to the family and friends... of this very young...and fearless...police officer...who was called back home...in such a sudden...untimely...devas-tating...and tragic manner.
The bravery...and courage...she showed...in the performance of her duty...is a testimony...to her moral character.
She will not be forgotten...by those of us...who are the survivor families....of the other heroes...that this fine officer...now joins.
May God's perpetual light...shine upon the soul...of Police Officer Nicola Cotton...and may she rest...in His eternal peace...for having made...the ultimate sacrifice...in protecting...and serving...her community.
God bless her...and all those that she loved.
