To The Family,

My thoughts and prayers go out to Nicola and her family. Too many officers are dying in the line of duty just trying to do there job to serve and protect. We could all Monday morning quarterback the possibilities of what would of/could of, and should of happened, but DONT!

Rest in Peace Officer Cotton, we have the Watch. Those of you that served with her, please make sure you take care of her families needs.

How devastating to lose another local law enforcement officer in such a senseless way. I pray that the family, friends and fellow officers of Officer Cotton know how very much her sacrifice is honored by those of us who have paid that debt as well. My deepest condolences and my most heartfelt and sincere prayers are with her mother and sisters at this terrible time. May God bless you with courage and strength for the days to come. Godspeed Officer Cotton.

IN THE LINE OF DUTY

In the line of duty,
Is how the saying goes;
But duty goes much farther,
Than anyone could know.
For duty is a hollow word,
When heart is what they give;
Men and women who gave their lives,
So someone else could live.

Protecting, serving faithfully,
They listened to their call;
Becoming the fallen heroes,
The ones who gave their all.
Oh how the words ring true for them,
Who gave all they could give;
In the line of duty...
So someone else could live.

I pray for peace for those that loved you Nicola. To lose a daughter, sister, colleague, or friend so young is tragic. However, they must take comfort in knowing God said "Greater love has no one then he who gives his life for his friends." This verse has brought much comfort to me after the lose of my brother in the line of duty. I hope you feel the same way. I know she is standing inside the gates of heaven today.

Rest sister.

I want to let the Cotton family know they have my deepest sympathy in the loss of Nicola. I had the pleasure of knowing Nicola as a teenager living and going to school in the uptown/central city area where she patrolled the streets of New Orleans. Zhe had the same demeaner now that she had as a teenager. She was well respected and liked with NOPD as well as the community she served. Her smile has never changed and she was a loving person you just loved to be around. Sleep on Officer Nicola Cotton and take your rest "YOU HAVE WON THE BATTLE AND THE WAR IS OVER".
