AS A FELLOW METRO NEW ORLEANS OFFICER, I OFFER MY DEEPEST CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY AND THE DEPARTMENT. SADLY I AM NOT SUPRISED DUE TO THE VIOLENT THUGS THAT WALK THIS CITY. I WISH WE COULD ATTACK CRIME IN A REAL HANDS ON MANNER AND GO BACK TO THE OLD DAYS. BUT DO TO THE MAKE UP OF THE CITY IT WILL NOT BE WELCOMED. UNTIL THEN MORE BRAVE OFFICERS WILL DIE AT THE HANDS OF ANIMALS WHO SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN PRISON A LONG TIME AGO.

To the Cotton family, I can only say I am very sorry for your loss. It is a sad day indeed for all of us. She died with honor and fought with courage and for that she earned the right to live a better life, where there is no suffering. This world seems a little colder without her, but may she rest in peace. We have the watch from here. My prayers are for you and your family.

Thank you for protecting us all. You made the ultimate sacrifice, and will never be forgotten for your courageous acts. You chose to approach a dangerous situation alone with total disregard for your own safety so that others may be protected from harms way,and fought to the end. You are a true hero. God bless your family, fellow officers, and the community for this tragic loss. Rest in peace.

OUR HERO OF BLUE

Our hero of blue has fallen
A time of peace is calling
For you to go with God above
He'll give you wings of blue with love
To send a message for everyone
To remember a life and what was done
A dream fulfilled of our angel of blue
We honor you for the job you swore to do
A promise was kept from a hero like you
You put your life on the line each day
To protect and serve in everyway
And to give you thanks we will do our part
To share your message and to keep you in our heart
