Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Corporal Gary Reeves Blair

Gary Blair was my uncle. I have recently become a new officer and I want to thank everyone who has submited reflection's. This means so much to our family. Gary was a great man and even though he died when I was five years old I believe he has guided me in my life and my career.

I grew up in the same town Corporal Blair grew up in. His niece went to high school with me. I remember hearing about his death on the radio. It was so terrible. He always was and always will be a hero.

I remember Gary when we but children. Our familes attended the same Church and we all socialized frequently; sometimes at their home, sometimes at ours. Unfortunately I lost contact with Gary for many years, stayed up with his career through my Mother. Needless to say, his death was a great shock and tragedy...one that after all these years still brings tears to my eyes at the mere thought. It was only after visiting his final resting place was I able to gain some internal peace. Spending 26 years in the Air Force in the law enforcement field, I have and always will have a special place in my heart for law enforcement officers. Every time I hear of the loss of another professional, I simply look to heaven and ask Gary for strength; he never fails me.
