This just saddens my heart and brings back all the memories of losing my brother. I know that the family of Detective Shivers is feeling emotions that will keep asking, "Why him?". There is no answer. Only God can answer that question someday. I lost my faith in God after the death of brother. Don't lose yours. We cannot blame God. We don't know what God has in store for us but I think that God takes a special officer to help him. I'm sure Detective Shivers was a special cop, father, husband, friend, co-worker, and community leader. Why else would God call upon him to enter the kingdom of heaven.
Don't worry about finding the strength right now. Let your loved ones and the people that knew Detective Shivers help you through this.
He has reached the heavens and someday we will be allowed to enter those gates of heaven too. He will keep watching over you. I believe that my brother watches over all of his family. He will never leave you.
God Bless all of you and I do send my sympathies, condolences, hugs, and a shoulder to each of you.
I wish I could be there to comfort each one of you.
Signed,

Detective Shivers,
As I look at your photo, as well as the photo's of our other Law Enforcement brothers who have been killed this year in the line of duty, It makes me angry. What has this world come to when the peace-makers are no longer respected? When someone can take the life of another without remorse or sense of wrong-doing, something must be done. I pray that the LORD will look over your family as they try to start their lives over without their father and husband. I also pray that the jury of our peers will deliver swift judgement to this senseless killer. Rest in peace knowing that your family, as well as the rest of your Law Enforcement brothers and sisters will never forget the sacrifice that you, as well as others in our line of work, have made in the name of peace in justice. May your soul rest in peace in Heaven. GOD bless you.
