“In The Line Of Duty”
In Memory Of All Police Officers
Who Have Been Called To Make The Ultimate Sacrifice

What is the meaning of "In The Line Of Duty"
It means that an officer made the Ultimate sacrifice.
It means that someone took an officers life.
A hero has fallen. Officers who gave their all
To protect and serve us
Have been killed by someone whom they swore
To protect and serve.
It means that their badge will no longer be on their chest
And they will join "The Best Of The Best"
It means that family and friends are left behind
To deal with the lost of a loved one.
Only having the memories of that loved one
Close to their hearts. Something no one can ever take away.
It means that family members will stand at the officers grave
And wonder why... Why would someone take an officers life
And leave them there to die?
If we only knew. Today an officer will place their badge on their chest
To fulfill the dreams of heroes killed "In The Line Of Duty"
Here we are again to pay our respects to an officer who was doing the kind of work he loved and his life was taken away by a split second by someone who did not have a bit of respect for another's life.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL

Ricky,
I briefly heard this on the news and we contacted your department upon hearing you grew up in our area and attended Gates Chili School. We were put in touch with your Mom and went to see your family. They are hurting but there for each other. We are here as well for your family. We'll take care of them so don't worry. Keep an eye on your brothers and sisters at your PD as they hunt yours and Eric's killers.

I was working early this morning when I heard about Officer Bryant and Officer Barker being shot. The first thing I did was say a prayer and hope for their safe recoveries.

I really want to extend my deepest sympathies to their families. I used to work in Dekalb and I have heard so many positive things about both officers; specifically that they both often acknowledged the people in the neighborhood, were both very approachable, and that they often interacted and communicated with the people they died protecting. We have all shed many tears today but I thank God that no longer can either one of these PEOPLE, OFFICERS, BROTHERS be harmed, disregarded, or dismissed. God has them now and they are very aware of all of the love that we all have for them. They have done what they were supposed to do and I pray that these angels rest in peace always. God Bless.
