“I answer the heroic question 'Death, where is thy sting?' with 'It is here in my heart and mind and memories.” -- Maya Angelou

Aloha e Deputy Sheriff Jason S. Zunker,
Thank you for your service and dedication to your community and your country. You and all officers that continue to lay your lives on the line and pay the ultimate sacrifice to keep our communities and country safe will NEVER be forgotten.

I pledge to become a continuum of the "ODMP Light" in which Visionary Founder, Chris Cosgriff created for all Fallen Law Enforcement Officers. That light is in the form of an ODMP tribute. People from all walks of life regardless of age, race, religion, profession, education, and geographical location can share here on the ODMP a heartfelt reflection on behalf of a fallen officer.

Every fallen officer is a hero. The ODMP serves as a place where that continuum of "LIGHT" can be felt through the heart and soul of each and every person who honors our fallen heroes with a reflection.

May God comfort the family, loved ones, friends, and fellow officers who have lost their beloved one. May the reflections left fill the void until the light within shines again, as your fallen hero is at rest with Jesus Christ and his soul has been set free. Feel the warmth of his smile from Heaven, he’s watching your back now. He’s that hero who can never be replaced in this lifetime. I light a candle in your honor.

I wish you peace and love beyond all understanding. You are embraced as one of Hawaii's own with integrity, respect, and fairness as you are a fallen hero. You will never be forgotten. 24-7-365 THANK YOU BLUE.

Me ke aloha Deputy Sheriff Jason S. Zunker a me nani uhane.
(With warm aloha Deputy Sheriff Jason S. Zunker
the beautiful soul.)

I had just finished my shift and had gone home just minutes before this tragic event. When one of my fellow officer's called me to tell me what happened my heart sank. I am lucky and proud to have worked with Deputy Zunker and to have called him "friend". God bless you Zunk, may you rest in peace.

Jas,

Your light will shine on in the hearts and memories of all who will remember your smile forever! What a blessing you have been to all who knew you and for those who you will greet in the heavens. I look up at the sky each day and wonder "if heaven is this beautiful down here, imagine how beautiful it is up there!" Now you apart of that something beautiful, forever.
I will miss our antics, jokes & laughter each day. The memories of Christmas, family picnics & get-togethers, and of course, stories will be shared and cherished whenever we think about you.
We will see each other again. Until then, may we all remember to love and to not only express that love each and every day, but to keep sharing it with the world!

Miss you every day!
Your cuz,
Tanya & Sandra

I was Jason’s supervisor and working the night he was struck. I also assisted with making the funeral arrangements and truly saw his second family. Our law enforcement brothers and sisters poured there hearts and souls out to send Jason to his next duty assignment. It was a privilege to work and know this wonderful man. Jason’s memory decal has been placed on my patrol car and 471 will be with me every shift I work. Be safe.
