Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Jason Scott Zunker

Another Deputy has fallen, Lord, You must have had a very special reason for needing him now, which is unknown to us. Deputy Zunker is now standing his watch in Your Kingdom. He watches and now protects ALL of us. God bless you Deputy Zunker, and thank you for all your time of service and God bless your family for allowing you to serve. Dear Lord take care of him, for he is special and you now have another fine Deputy.

Deputy Zunker
Thank you for your service, rest in peace my brother. Watch over the rest of us from your heavenly perch.

To the Family of Deputy Zunker
Your complete family are in my families prayers during this dark time. My family is just starting to make it thru a lost of our own with the death of my future son in-law Josh Norris (EOW Jul 5th 2007). I know you can not see pass the grief right now or believe you can shed so may tears and words of condolence does not fill the emptiness in your heart right now. What has helped my family and may help yours, remember your love ones laugh, his smile and all those things that are unique to him, since they are truly what made him. Jason will always be with you, that gentle wind that dries your tears, that warm feel of an embrace when no one is near is his way of helping you heal. God Bless you.

"People are often self-centered and unreasonable. Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.

If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.

The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.

For, you see, in the end it is between you and God. It never was between you and them anyway."*

I am so sorry to hear of Officer Zunker's passing. I have close friends on several different police forces and I worry about them in similar circumstances that put Officer Zunker in harms way. God bless all of you men and women in uniform that put your lives on the line for a mostly unappreciative citizenry. May God hold Officer Zunker's soul in his hands and place his soul in Heaven. The article where I read about Officer Zunker did not mention a spouse or children, but if he did leave a family behind, may God watch over them.

THE FINAL INSPECTION

The Policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't..... I'll understand."

There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his God.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."

I know you are going to be a guardian angel to the rest of us in law enforcement!
